The Grove on Patterson is a sanctuary where pregnant and parenting women find care at a time when they need it most. Combining recovery from substance use with support for parenthood’s challenges, The Grove offers a unique combination of compassion, expertise, and shared experiences that come together to inspire transformation.

The Grove represents the power of a community coming together. It is a collaborative effort between community leaders and healthcare providers that is transforming lives and strengthening the region through collective action.

We celebrate that The Grove on Patterson recently enrolled in CarePortal. Since they enrolled, leaders there have been regularly attending our monthly chat gatherings and submitting requests into CarePortal for many items that moms need to care for their babies. They currently have an open request for a breast pump or two to keep at the house for the moms to use to feed their babies. Many of the moms in their program will be enrolling in the House of Bread program and the Grove on Patterson is in need of volunteers to help rock babies Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-1 pm. The summer is a great time to bring your kids along to meet CarePortal requests. Last week my daughter helped me pick out bedding for a young girl and boy who had just received new bunk beds from a family on our church response team. The family had been homeless and were so excited to be settled into a home. When my daughter and I arrived, the kids had to show us their new beds right away! We went up to see the bunk beds and my daughter was immediately off playing with the children. She loved getting to meet them and helping pick out their new bedding.

We had a Facebook snafu but we are happy to be back now, and updating you on our stories and news again!

In June we met 74 requests and served 172 children in our community. This is absolutely incredible and is accomplished by each of us doing what we can to help. Thank you churches and community responders who continue to say "Yes, I can help"!

Big thanks to FRēBIKE (Insta: .roanoke) for partnering with us to meet this CarePortal request! They provided the bike needed for a dad to get to his job and appointments more easily, which will help him get re-united with his children. Thanks to the community responder who funded this request, which helped pay for the bike helmet, bike lock, and taillight to help him ride safely. Thanks to for helping him find a safe route to stay off high traffic roads! If you have an old bike you want to donate, or bike parts to donate, you can donate them to FRēBIKE to help people who need them.
