Small Blessings Children's Outreach Center is on break for the summer after completing their first successful year of programming! It was a big success. This ministry solely serves the children in Ashton Heights Apartments after school. This is a place where many families live in poverty and oftentimes there is drug activity and crime associated with that. The SBCOC is located outside of Ashton Heights so kids can get away from the apartment complex. The attending kids go on field trips, and the center helps them improve their literacy skills, complete homework, grow in their financial management skills, and social skills. The director provides most of the funds for the center out of her own pocket. She is also doing evening classes for women and men in the apartment complex. The future impact of investment in the center is invaluable. Providing positive experiences can help children develop resilience and break cycles of poverty. The center is looking for support coming into the next school year. The program can use financial support, clothing donations, food donations, and volunteers.
