Small Blessings Children's Outreach Center is on break for the summer after completing their first successful year of programming! It was a big success. This ministry solely serves the children in Ashton Heights Apartments after school. This is a place where many families live in poverty and oftentimes there is drug activity and crime associated with that. The SBCOC is located outside of Ashton Heights so kids can get away from the apartment complex. The attending kids go on field trips, and the center helps them improve their literacy skills, complete homework, grow in their financial management skills, and social skills. The director provides most of the funds for the center out of her own pocket. She is also doing evening classes for women and men in the apartment complex. The future impact of investment in the center is invaluable. Providing positive experiences can help children develop resilience and break cycles of poverty. The center is looking for support coming into the next school year. The program can use financial support, clothing donations, food donations, and volunteers. Hey CarePortal Roanoke Valley. Please note that the Isaiah 117 House Roanoke VA kickoff event scheduled for this weekend has been postponed.

We've been overwhelmed by the excitement and support surrounding the launch of Isaiah 117 House Roanoke, VA.

As we prepare for this important next step, we've made the decision to postpone our kickoff event while we finalize a few details. While this wasn't the timeline we originally planned, we believe it's the best decision for moving forward well.

The good news? We're still coming, and we can't wait to share updated dates with you soon!

We just reached a milestone of 3,000 requests met since we launched in Roanoke in 2020. What an incredible accomplishment! There have been 3,000 connections between the church and children and families in crisis since 2020 in the Roanoke Valley, which has resulted in over 6,000 children being served. Thank you CarePortal Community for continuing to say "Yes, I Can Help". It's incredible what we can accomplish when we each give what we have to love and serve our neighbors.

Our CarePortal community is stepping into something new! The need for transportation continues to increase in our community due to the escalating costs of owning and maintaining a car. Through our partnership with Great Expectations we learned about a foster child who needs transportation to their CNA classes this summer. Many folks from our CarePortal church community have volunteered to help and together we are working with Department of Social Services to collaborate to make sure this student has a ride everyday to class and back home. We are excited about this opportunity! We get to do this together and together we can make a big impact in the life of a child!

We had a great meeting getting our CarePortal churches, agencies, and community partners together at our May Monthly Chat at the St Joseph's Furniture Closet! How encouraging it is when we all come together to share stories of impact through this work! If you want to hear how God is working in our community come and join us!
