Did you know that September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month?

Approximately 1 in 5 children between the ages of 2-19 in the United States are affected by obesity? Childhood obesity can increase the risk of health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

Prevention and developing healthy habits start early!

Families can support children by:
• Modeling healthy eating habits
• Finding ways to move more together
• Establishing consistent sleep routines
• Limiting screen time
• Building healthy habits early

Small changes made together can support healthier kids, healthier families, and healthier communities!

Overall wellness is one of the foundations of long-term recovery.

Your mental, physical, and emotional well-being play a vital role not only in recovery, but in every aspect of life.

During National Recovery Month, we're highlighting the importance of caring for every aspect of your well-being throughout the recovery journey.

Regular self-care, healthy routines, and access to the right resources can help strengthen your recovery journey. When these habits are in place, you're doing more than just getting through recovery. You're building a strong, grounded life that makes long-term recovery sustainable and worth protecting.

As we recognize National Recovery Month, we celebrate the power of connection and the important role communities play in supporting recovery.

Everyone's recovery journey is unique, but recovery can be much more challenging when faced alone. Recovery thrives through connection. Whether you engage with the community through peer support, support groups, recovery housing, or other recovery resources, you are not alone.

To better support individuals in recovery, communities must work together as one coordinated network of care. When recovery support services are connected, they create opportunities for more people to access the resources, encouragement, and support they need to build lasting recovery.

Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

One conversation can make a difference. Today, we encourage everyone to learn the facts about fentanyl and share information with the people they care about. Having real conversations about fentanyl and other drugs can help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and could encourage someone to seek help before it's too late.

Visit www.thepcw.org/resources/lets-talk-about-fentanyl today for more information.
