I was at home with my parents in Fort Wayne (IN) living near Northside High School on Charolette Avenue. I was only 5-years old at the time. A very sad day in music, another “Day The Music Died” in a sense.

Elvis Presley Died On This Day in 1977 at 42 yrs old ... where were you when you heard the terrible news?

Huntington County Chief Deputy Chris Newton spoke to our Roanoke Lions Club about Camp H.E.R.O. (Honor / Excellence / Respect / Opportunity) that will be continuing this summer in its 3rd year. The camp is for boys and girls ages 8 - 13 and will be held Monday through Friday July 6th - 10th at Crestview Middle School in Huntington, Indiana. The cost is ONLY $60 per child which also includes breakfast and lunch and 5 days of life-time learning and fun. There will also be a graduation ceremony for each child on Friday evening at Huntington North High School. This is truly a "one-of-a-kind" summer camp for the state of Indiana. For more information, be sure to check it all out on Facebook under "huntingtoncamphero". A big "THANK YOU" to Chris for his time in not only sharing with us as a club but also sharing with our community and county and giving this wonderful chance for so many young people within our local area. Also, "THANK YOU" to all of the others involved that will work to make Camp H.E.R.O. a great success again this summer of 2015. Chief Deputy Newton visited on Monday evening June 1st.
