Raleigh Court Neighborhood Association

Raleigh Court Neighborhood Association Since its beginning, RCNA has been involved in numerous issues of concern to neighborhood residents.

The Greater Raleigh Court Civic League is a non-profit neighborhood organization that strives to preserve the neighborhood's character and encourage a strong community . The Raleigh Court Neighborhood Association was organized in 1978 after two Grandin Road residents, Kitty Roche and Anne Glenn, rallied neighbors together to protest a zoning variance. From that knot of concerned citizens has grown

the neighborhood organization that exists today to preserve the character of our community and promote the welfare of our citizens. Representing Raleigh Court, Center Hill, Ghent, Lakewood, Lee-Hy Court, Rosalind Hills, Virginia Heights, and Westhampton, the GRCCL encourages understanding of and participation in our city government and has a strong voice in city affairs. The organization has been successful in influencing the design of the nursing home along Grandin Road, the renovation of Grandin Village, replacing trees, slowing speeders, and creating new trails/greenways. RCNA won a Neighborhood of the Year Award from Neighborhoods USA in 1993 for one of its projects. Today RCNA is involved with other issues as well, including zoning, Murray Run Greenway and trailhead construction, and neighborhood cleanups. RCNA also works closely with the Grandin Village Business Association to keep the commercial section of our neighborhood vibrant and attractive. The Organization meets on the 4th Thursday on the month in September, November*, January, March and May. *The November meeting falls on Thanksgiving and is replace with a social gathering typically the first week of December. The traditional meetings are held at Raleigh Court Presbyterian at 7:00pm.

A huge thank you to all who had a part in the new Raleigh Court Neighborhood sign!

Thank you to the Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates for providing a grant to our neighborhood for the repair and restoration of the sign’s columns. Thank you to S&L Masonry Contractors LLC who repaired and restored the columns. Thank you to Page and Zephren Turner with Artform Signs LLC who have created this beautiful sign. Thank you to Blue Honey Rose for helping to create our new logo which provided the basis of the sign’s design. Thank you to Tony Wirt and One Earth Landscapes, Inc who have donated the landscaping and mulch and will be maintaining that landscaping moving forward - we are very grateful to them for that generosity. And thank you to Richard Rife, a long time Raleigh Court neighbor who has generously offered to provide solar lighting for the sign, which will be installed soon.

This was truly a team effort and we hope you enjoy the new sign!
