Rotary Club of the Blue Ridge

Rotary Club of the Blue Ridge Young Professional Service Organization Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occup

ation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. The Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:
Of the things we think, say or do

Is it the TRUTH?

Flashback to last Wednesday when club members dominated the third round of TV cartoon trivia at Twisted Track Brewpub! Nothing quite like a group of millennials showing off their knowledge of the best '90s and '00s shows from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.

Interested in learning more about Rotary Club of the Blue Ridge? Join us for any of our regular club meetings at Twisted Track, the first and third Wednesday of every month starting at 6:00 PM.

On Wednesday, we had the privilege of hearing from Tyler Godsey, the visionary behind 5 Points Music Sanctuary in Roanoke, VA. Tyler shared the inspiring history and mission of 5 Points Music, a space dedicated to fostering community through music and the arts. 🎶

His passion for providing a welcoming environment for musicians and music lovers alike truly resonated with everyone in the room. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of creative spaces that bring people together, inspire growth, and support local talent.

Thank you, Tyler, for sharing your story and for all the incredible work you do at 5 Points Music! 🙌

🎉 What a memorable evening! Our Rotary Club’s annual holiday gathering at Olde Salem Brewing Company was a huge success! 🍻🎄

We enjoyed a fun-filled night of music bingo, great conversation, and plenty of holiday cheer. It was wonderful to see so many members bring their friends and family along to join in the festivities. And the highlight of the night – a surprise performance by local high school carolers who filled the brewery with beautiful holiday music! 🎶🎤

Thank you to everyone who came out to make this event so special. Here’s to another year of service, friendship, and community! ✨

Over the weekend, several members of our club shopped for toys to donate to the annual Christmas Shop at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia. The Christmas Shop is a special event at the House where residing families can select toys and games to gift to younger siblings of those children being treated at the various Carilion and LewisGale facilities in Roanoke.

Gift donation is a yearly tradition for the Rotary Club of the Blue Ridge. We use our Happy Dollars every December to purchase toys for the less fortunate (Happy Dollars are a result of club members donating a dollar to share good news at the end of each regular club meeting). This year, we collected $210, which was well spent on many toys from Ollie's for the benefit of our local Ronald McDonald House.

We'd like to thank club members Lydia Aluise, Tony Aluise, Blaine Elliot, Sam Grant, and Mack Johnson for giving their time on Saturday to go shopping. We also want to give a special thanks to Kristina Smith, Ronald McDonald House volunteer, for joining us on our shopping trip.
