Today, we join millions around the world in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, a remarkable artist, philanthropist, and champion for children whose generosity and vision have touched generations.
For the Junior League of Roanoke Valley, Dolly’s legacy has taken on special meaning through our work supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library here in the Roanoke Valley.
Dolly believed deeply in the power of books to open doors for children. Inspired by her own father’s inability to read and write, she created the Imagination Library with a simple but extraordinary idea: give children books of their very own and help foster a love of reading from the very beginning.
Today, that vision reaches children and families around the world, including right here in our community.
We are profoundly grateful for the life Dolly lived, the joy she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind. It is a privilege to play even a small part in carrying that legacy forward by helping put books into the hands and homes of children across the Roanoke Valley.
This chapter may have come to a close, but her story lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of children who will continue opening new books because of her.
Thank you, Dolly. Your legacy will live on! ❤️📚
