Dear Homeowners,
We want to inform you that temperatures are expected to drop significantly over the next 7 days. Please take the necessary precautions to protect your home and property during this time.
Here are some freeze precautions to keep in mind:
1. **Protect Your Pipes**: Wrap exposed pipes and let faucets drip to prevent freezing. Faucets should drip overnight during the low temperatures, and the dripping faucet should be as far away from the water source as possible to allow water to flow through the entire system. This helps relieve pressure and prevents pipes from bursting when they begin to thaw.
2. **Check Your HVAC System**: Ensure your heating system is functioning properly. If HVAC filters have not been changed recently, please do so to ensure optimal performance.
3. **Seal Drafts**: Inspect windows and doors for drafts and seal them to keep your home warm.
4. **Outdoor Faucets**: Disconnect and drain garden hoses, and cover outdoor faucets with a styro-foam cover. These are available for about $3-$6 at your local Lowe's or Home Depot.
5. **Sprinkler Systems**: Turn off and drain your sprinkler systems to avoid damage.
6. **Open Cabinet Doors**: Allow warmer air to reach interior pipes by opening cabinet doors, especially if sinks are located along an exterior wall.
7. **Know Your Main Shut-Off Valve**: Familiarize yourself with the location of the main shut-off valve in case a pipe bursts or leaks.
8. **Pets and Plants**: Bring pets indoors and protect or bring in sensitive plants.
Your safety and comfort are our priority. Please take these precautions seriously to avoid any potential issues caused by freezing temperatures.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Stay warm and safe!
