Do you remember THG stating this area was ISOLATED? It clearly is not.

Wonder why?

It’s believed they are banking on having everyone (IN GOVT) believe this so if/when they purchase the land they can acquire automatic mining rights under IN Code 36-7-4-1103(b) claiming it to be and rural, aka “remote” and “isolated” area.

UPDATE: This means they feel the county has NO authority in approving the quarry and essentially saying the BZA decision would be null and void. This is why we MUST reach out to our representatives.

We know there are hundreds of homes adjacent to this property.

When you reach out to your representatives, remind them this is NOT an isolated area.

SO NOW WHAT?

NOTE/UPDATE: PLEASE remember THG is an Indy company and they have not seen/felt the pressure we placed locally. Contacting our state representatives helps to branch out the pressure to where it needs to go.

We don’t know what THG has for their move in regards to land purchase and pushing the state to change zoning rules.

They have already proven themselves to BULLY us and others trying to convince us they are great neighbors.

With the actions we have already seen, it is important to remain vigilant and speak up to our state representatives!

I will post shortly who to contact.

I cannot remember a time when our community has been more organized, engaged, and committed to protecting its interests than the concerned citizens opposing the quarry proposal for Homestead Road. Last night’s standing-room-only turnout was a clear reflection of that commitment, and I was especially appreciative of the respectful and thoughtful manner in which opponents made their voices heard. I’m very pleased with the board’s decision, and this remains the wrong location for a quarry. Our community will need to remain vigilant. No Quarry on Homestead
