🏡🎨 You know we're getting close to the finish line when PAINTING is on the schedule!

The 12th annual WSLS 10 Home for Good is getting closer and closer to completion, with our dedication expected next month! And this week, some familiar friends traded their banking duties for paintbrushes to help us put the finishing touches on a very special home! 🖌️❤️

A big THANK YOU to the wonderful team from Bank of Botetourt who spent the day volunteering alongside Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley, helping transform this house into a place a local family will soon call HOME!

Bank of Botetourt has been part of the Home for Good family for nine years, and their commitment goes far beyond financial sponsorship. They continue to show up, roll up their sleeves, and put their belief in community into action. That's what being a true community partner is all about!

As we enter these final weeks of construction, it's exciting to see everything coming together. What started as plans and a foundation is quickly becoming a finished home, filled with the promise of new beginnings, lasting memories, and a brighter future for a local family.

For 12 years, WSLS 10 / WSLS.com and Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley have brought businesses, volunteers, and neighbors together through Home for Good, proving that when a community joins forces, incredible things can happen.

🏡❤️ FOUR MORE SQUARE FEET CLOSER TO OUR GOAL! THANK YOU, ROANOKE COUNTY WOMEN’S CLUB! ❤️🏡

What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the generosity of an organization with more than a century of service to our community!

We recently had the pleasure of meeting with the Roanoke County Women’s Club at College Lutheran Church in Salem, where we presented the club with its Certificate of Investment in recognition of its generous investment in four square feet of our 40th Anniversary Community House in Roanoke! Every square foot brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality!

The Roanoke County Women’s Club has a remarkable history of giving back. Founded on June 7, 1923, by 28 community-minded women, the club has spent more than 100 years supporting education, public health, community improvement, and charitable causes throughout the Roanoke Valley. Their dedication to helping others has made a lasting difference for generations.

Today, these wonderful women are continuing that proud tradition by investing in a project that will benefit our community for years to come.

To the members of the Roanoke County Women's Club: THANK YOU! Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in our mission mean more than words can express. We are honored to have you as part of this exciting journey!

Strong relationships with our local media are one of the best ways Habitat can keep our mission in front of the community. Every story they tell helps more people understand who we are, why affordable homeownership matters, and how they can become part of the work.

That’s why we were thrilled to have WDBJ7 cover Habitat-Roanoke’s Women Build 2026. WDBJ7 has been serving and telling the stories of the Roanoke Valley since 1955, and their coverage gave our volunteers, partners, and mission a valuable spotlight in the community.

The impact of that coverage lasts well beyond the original newscast. Stories posted online can live on a station’s website for years, appear in searches, and continue introducing people to Habitat long after the cameras are gone. One story can inspire a future volunteer, donor, homeowner, church, or business partner.

We are grateful to WDBJ7 for showing up, spending time with us, and helping tell the Women Build story.

And to all of our local television, radio, print, and digital media partners: thank you. Your time, effort, and commitment to sharing our stories help Habitat reach people we could never reach alone.

We are beyond blessed to have found such a great partner in New River Electrical. They joined our family this year, and they have been nothing but stellar in all ways. From funding to volunteers, New River Electrical takes their benevolence seriously.

This season, every walk meant more than a trip to first base. ⚾

Through New River Electrical's (NRE's) partnership with the Salem RidgeYaks, every walk during home games generated a $25 donation to Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley, with an additional $100 donated for each walk-off win. What started as a fun way to connect baseball and community impact quickly added up throughout the season.

On September 3, NRE proudly presented a check for $8,475, representing funds raised through that point in the season. After the final games were played, the season's total contribution grew to $8,875, helping Habitat continue its mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

As an employee-owned company, we understand the value of having a place to call your own. That's why we're proud to support organizations that create opportunities for local families and strengthen the communities we call home.
