Roanoke Democracy Center The Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan voting rights organization led by people of color.

Focused on informing constituents in the Northwest Roanoke Community. The Center for Common Ground, a non-partisan voting rights organization led by people of color announced a partnership to establish a Democracy Center location in Roanoke, Va., to deliver voter education and participation services to underrepresented low-wealth and rural communities in the area. The center is open and located at

401 Gainsboro Road NW in Roanoke, Va. The Democracy Center will serve as a permanent, peer-to-peer, community-centered hub to empower citizens in the Roanoke area to participate in democracy by providing needed infrastructure, training and digital tools during times of accelerated change and challenge. The center will offer citizens voter services, a place to gather and connect, opportunities to participate in the process, and education on national, state and local policy/politics so they can make educated decisions about their leaders.

“We are proud and excited to bring a Democracy Center to the community to supply the resources that will empower citizens to participate in our democracy in a meaningful and impactful way,” said Andrea Miller, Founding Board Member of the Center for Common Ground. “Citizens need the tools and place to gather and learn about the policies and leaders that affect their lives.”
