Barbatos is a Fallen Angel and eighth of the 72 Spirits of Solomon. Formerly a member of the Angelic Order of Virtues, Barbatos is a great count, earl, and is called the duke of Hell, where he rules 30 Legions of Demons. When the Sun is in Sagittarius, he appears with four kings and three companies of troops. He understands the languages of all animals, especially the singing of birds, and the barking of dogs. Barbatos can reveal treasures hidden by magic and can reconcile friends and people in power. He teaches all sciences and knows all things in the past and of the future

Randolph College, Founded in 1891 as Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, this school did not change its name until becoming co-educational in 2007. Students say there are at least three ghosts haunting the campus, the first of which is an old woman whose apparition has been seen in the West Dating Parlor. Another spirit is said t be that of a student who was murdered while wearing purple clogs; her ghost can still be heard walking about the dorm where she once lived. The last is Mary Stokes or, at the very least, a wicked spirit inhabiting the garden named after her. Students say that if you stray from the path and cross through Mary’s Garden you will be cursed never to marry or graduate.

Built in the 1770s, this historic home is the only surviving building of the Kenmore Plantation. It was owned by the family of Betty Washington Lewis, George Washington’s younger sister. Rumor has it that Betty’s husband, Colonel Fielding Lewis, has haunted the house since his death in the 1780s. Lewis, who is said to have spent many hours in the upstairs bedroom worrying about money, can still be seen in his Revolutionary-era clothing poring over financial documents in the room; he has also been known to turn doorknobs and his footsteps and sometimes be heard as well. The historic plantation house is now kept as a museum and can be toured almost every day.

Something that was documented in local newspapers in Roanoke Va. As the story goes, for just a few days in 1902, a mysterious and beautiful woman in a black dress, the lower part of her face partially obscured by a black turban, terrorized the men of Roanoke. And not just any men—married men. As they walked home at night, she would materialize, whispering in their ears and calling them by name, sending chills down their spines.
