ANNOUNCING MARGARET BAKER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP WINNER!

The Margaret Baker Foundation is pleased to congratulate Marshall Ruckman, a senior at Roanoke College, as one of its 2024 scholarship winners.

Marshall is studying Health and Exercise Science and plans to pursue a career in physical therapy.

His community service project is known as Project H2O, serving as a mentor for freshmen in a living learning community interested in health careers. He helps the first-year students complete a variety of community service projects, like volunteering at the Roanoke Rescue Mission's Children's Chapel, helping the children with homework.

Marshall also assists the Director of Community Service for the College in sharing project opportunities and recruiting students and other volunteers. He says that receiving this scholarship will allow him to have time to volunteer in Physical Therapy clinics in preparation for a career in that field, along with giving him more time for community service projects.

Congratulations, Marshall!

MARGARET BAKER FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2024 SCHOLARSHIP WINNER!

The Margaret Baker Foundation is proud to announce that Aidan Lacombe, a junior at Roanoke College, is one of our 2024 scholarship winners!

Aiden is studying Criminal Justice and Political Science with a 3.8 GPA. After graduation, he plans to attend law school.

Aidan participates in the Service Leadership Fellowship at Roanoke College. Every year, he has been working with a non-profit organization several times each week. He also coordinates a schedule of volunteers from Roanoke College for the organization.

During his first year, Aiden volunteered with Salem Head Start, serving as a teacher assistant wtih children from low income families. Since then, he has been working as a volunteer at the Feeding Southwest Virginia Food Pantry, helping distribute food to people in need. He also coordinates a schedule of Roanoke College volunteers for this site.

Enjoy delicious food, awesome ambiance, great musical entertainment, and warm camaraderie as we raise scholarship money for young women and men in Virginia.

Vocalists include Beverly Young, Miss Virginia 1982; Britt Young Meyer, Miss Virginia's Teen 2007; Nancy Glisson Lucy, Miss Virginia 1993; and Taylor Burrell, Miss Virginia's Pr***en 2009.
We're celebrating the 65th anniversary of Alice Sue Williams becoming Miss Virginia 1959.

She'll be joined by Virginia's 1st Miss America, Kylene Barker McNeill (1979); Miss Virginia 1990 (our own Miss America semi-finalist) and FOX News Sunday anchor, Shannon Bream; Carlehr Swanson, Miss Virginia 2024; and Cassidy Lee, Miss Virginia's Teen 2024.

"A Star Filled Evening" begins at 4:30 PM Sunday, September 29.
