2025-2027 Our post has a vibrant and active Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary.

Post 8108 was founded in 1995 by a small group of veterans using a pickup truck as their post. It has grown from the back of a pickup to a small room in which all post functions, both fun and business, were conducted. As the membership expanded the post expanded as well to include a full meeting hall, a full sized restaurant kitchen and a full service bar. We are called the River Rats as we are lo

cated along the Alifia River and we are proud to stake the claim of “The friendliest post in Florida”. We have many different vintages of veterans, from the Korean Conflict to the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Men and Women alike, we are all veterans and proud to serve and help each other. These ladies and gentleman are the wives, husbands, brothers and sisters of fellow veterans across the country. We, the Post and the Auxiliaries, are a family that pulls together to build a community to support all of our veterans. We help those just coming home from war, we have been there also, to those that have been home for years and looking for the comradery of years past. We are Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines… we are the ones that held on in the frozen mountains of Korea, the ones on patrol in the jungles of Vietnam, the ones that stormed across the deserts. And a few that were someplace they aren’t supposed to talk about… We are the ones that will never forget our comrades that are still missing. We are Riverview Memorial Post 8108! Happy September Eve!! Here is a summary of this week’s events at VFW Riverview Post 8108:

Monday 8/31 - Homemade Soups by Jenn Creamy Chicken Noodle and mini cheddar bay biscuits at 3pm

Tuesday 9/1 - Taco Tuesday, starting at 12pm

Wednesday 9/2 - Lori’s Lunch, starting at 12pm, Sloppy Joes are on the menu this week!

Thursday 9/3 - Thea’s Chicken Curry, starting at 12 pm, 9/11 Ceremony planning committee meeting at 6pm followed by the House Committee Meeting at 7pm, all are welcome to attend

Friday 9/4 - RED Friday, and Food Truck Friday featuring Logan’s Smokehouse

Saturday 9/5 - Steak Night 5pm-7pm, made to order NY Strip Steak, Salad, Baked Potato, Green Beans, Fresh sautéd mushrooms, bread and dessert for $25.

Monday 9/7 - Labor Day Potluck, sign up sheet for sides located in the canteen, Post is providing Burgers and Hotdogs, kick off 1pm.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 7th, 2026 is National Purple Heart Day.

Veterans Council of Hillsborough County events.

Attendees and participants are advised to please bring umbrellas and chairs for themselves.

Here are the VCHC events:

3pm - The VCHC will conduct a Purple Heart Recognition Ceremony around the Purple Heart Memorial at

A World War II Purple Heart recipient and a five-time Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War as well as dignitaries and more are slated to make comments.
