2025-2026 Our post has a vibrant and active Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary.

Post 8108 was founded in 1995 by a small group of veterans using a pickup truck as their post. It has grown from the back of a pickup to a small room in which all post functions, both fun and business, were conducted. As the membership expanded the post expanded as well to include a full meeting hall, a full sized restaurant kitchen and a full service bar. We are called the River Rats as we are lo

cated along the Alifia River and we are proud to stake the claim of “The friendliest post in Florida”. We have many different vintages of veterans, from the Korean Conflict to the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Men and Women alike, we are all veterans and proud to serve and help each other. These ladies and gentleman are the wives, husbands, brothers and sisters of fellow veterans across the country. We, the Post and the Auxiliaries, are a family that pulls together to build a community to support all of our veterans. We help those just coming home from war, we have been there also, to those that have been home for years and looking for the comradery of years past. We are Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines… we are the ones that held on in the frozen mountains of Korea, the ones on patrol in the jungles of Vietnam, the ones that stormed across the deserts. And a few that were someplace they aren’t supposed to talk about… We are the ones that will never forget our comrades that are still missing. We are Riverview Memorial Post 8108! Pictured: For the third consecutive year, Alabama VFW Post 1762 and their Auxiliary spent Day of Service volunteering at Garrett's Place, which provides foster children two weeks' worth of clothing, a suitcase, toiletries, toys and other necessities as they enter foster care, which is often a scary and confusing experience during which they may have nothing from their home to take with them to their new placement.

Immediately following this Memorial Day event on Sunday, 24 May 2026, there will be an unveiling of a plaque dedicated to retired Air Force Technical Sergeant Cody Palmer. Cody was a past Commander of the Riverview Memorial VFW Post 8108 and a past President of the Hillsborough County Veterans Council.
