Help for Health Hospice

Help for Health Hospice Everyone deserves compassion and support in life’s hardest moments.

As Fremont County’s only nonprofit hospice provider, Help for Health puts patients and families first — listening, responding, and providing peace of mind. Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide treatment and support for individuals with a terminal illness. Hospice seeks to ease their pain and symptoms so that their remaining time may be spent with dignity. Hospice typically cares f

or patients with a life expectancy of six months or less should their illness take its expected course. Help for Health provides support for you and your loved one by surrounding you with a team of professionals dedicated to compassionate end-of-life care. Our comprehensive pain and symptom management services can be provided either in your own home or in our hospice in-patient facility here in Riverton, Wyoming. Our mission is delivering compassionate hospice care by addressing the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of our patients and their families.

Help For Health is so proud and grateful for all of our caregivers. And, yes we cry. 💙

🩷 Do Hospice Nurses Ever Cry?

Yes... we do.

People see us as the ones who stay calm during the hardest moments.

What they don’t always see is what happens after we leave.

I’ve sat in my car after a visit and cried before driving to my next patient.

There have also been moments when I’ve teared up with families. When you’re standing beside someone saying goodbye to the person they love most, it’s hard not to feel a piece of their heartbreak too.

People often assume that because we care for dying patients every day, we somehow become immune to death.

We don’t.

One of the hardest parts is admitting someone to hospice, getting to know them and their family, then receiving the call later that night that they’ve died.

Even when I know hospice was exactly what they needed... those moments stay with me.

I don’t remember every medication I’ve ever given.

I don’t remember every chart I’ve completed.

But I remember the people.

Those are the moments that never leave you.

People sometimes think crying means you’re not strong enough for this job.

I believe it means the opposite.

It means I never stopped seeing my patients as people instead of diagnoses.

It means I never stopped caring.

And I hope I never do.

❤️ I’d love to hear from you…

Have you ever had a nurse, CNA, physician, aide, or other healthcare worker whose kindness made a lasting difference during one of the hardest moments of your life?
