Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm.
Grace is unmerited (undeserved) divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration (being made a new creation), finding restoration (healing the broken), and sanctification (the action of causing something to be or seem morally right or acceptable again).
Have you ever known someone who has wronged you in so many ways that you cannot imagine ever forgiving them? The last thing you may feel is mercy or grace towards them. Your pain, if held onto, will fester from a broken heart into a broken mind, body, and spirit. Bitterness leads to more brokenness. But it can all be turned around…
Psalms 46:10 says: Be still and KNOW (fully trust) that I AM GOD. In Hebrew that translates to Let go and Let God. In the Message Bible that is a picture of loosening or slackening our grip on our circumstances and the outcome of our circumstances. Surrender that situation today. Watch as God gives you Grace - unmerited favor and assistance to release forgiveness and mercy to them- freeing you of bo***ge to that pain. That doesn’t right or justify in any way their wrong, it rights your heart. The healing will come swiftly, repairing the mind, body, and spirit as you choose not to rely on your emotions but to surrender your free will. Reconciliation may never come to the relationship that hurt you, but through Mercy and Grace reconciliation will flow between you and your Heavenly Father who wants to unburden your soul. He wants to restore you to better than before you were ever wronged.
Not sure why God laid this on my heart to share tonight. Perhaps someone has been chained to past hurts. There are still fresh wounds from years ago and you can’t understand why the mere mention of that person’s name sends your blood pressure up. God is revealing how to release that hurt, to give Him the keys to the chambers of your heart that you have locked away.
Ephes 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not anything you deserved, it is the gift of God.
Freely we have received- freely we must give.
