Overcomers - SEK

Aackkk - for some reason this page was dissociated from my Profile - which is good, but I had to search for a way to create new posts, etc! Ah FB, such advances you make.

We have new material for our Overcomer's SEK meetings on Tuesday night! Started over with Step One, day 1. There are 90 days to complete the 12 steps, so doing one a week should take us almost 2 years!
But that is grand as we have small workbooks now for different addictions: Substance abuse, Overeating, Gambling, Sexual Integrity, Grieving and Divorce.

We have child care - but are still looking for the right someones to view this as a ministry (though I pay $10 a night) to care for the children of people attempting to overcome life destroying habits and addictions. If you know someone - or ARE someone - who can give 2 hours a week (Tuesdays, 6:30-8 ish) on a devoted basis - please contact me here or call Susan 620-704-1102.

We also have people dedicated to giving rides to people in the area of Riverton KS (Baxter, Columbus, Galena, etc). Just call me at number above and I will get you to the right people!

Had a great meeting at Overcomer's on Tuesday. Read about clinging to Jesus and letting him be Savior and Lord. Wrapped up Steps 4 and 5 for this go round.

Also - had three new people join us. A couple from Spring River AOG that are eager to pick up anyone who wants to attend but needs a ride. Give me a call if that is you!

Another woman from a church in Galena came and will be going to Cherokee jail with Spring River lady on 2nd and 4th Thursdays to bring the women Overcomers and Bible study.

Still need some men for those Thursdays - my husband will be happy to train you if this is new to you! So - keep praying God will send workers into these fields.

Please pray for the men and women in jail/prison - those who have come to our services and those who have not. Their hearts are hungry for God and love, they need deliverance and mercy and help to find their way home to Jesus.

More good news for Overcomers SEK! A new couple from Spring River Assembly of God joined us stating they would be willing to give rides to people wanting to come, but without transportation. This will be people living in Baxter Springs, Riverton, Galena area.

If you need a ride or know someone wanting to attend that needs a ride - please contact me, Susan Whitlock, at 620-704-1102 and I will arrange for this to happen!

August 16th we will be starting the 5th step. Hope to see you there!

Praising God for providing a new child care worker for our Overcomers SEK Tuesday night meetings. Welcome, Katie and thanks to her foster mom Julie for responding to my plea!

We had a great meeting because of Katie's care. Working still on step 4 we discussed about inventory as a way to obey the command to walk in the Light. Bringing all of ourselves into the open and dealing honestly, slowly, and purposefully with our weak places. Shoring up the strong places and giving praise to God for all!

I am in desperate need of a dependable nursery care provider for our Overcomers SEK meetings every Tuesday from 6:15-7:30 pm at Spring River Assembly of God in Riverton KS.
I pay $10 for the time and can possibly help with a ride. We usually have a 3 year old and a 7 year old. We are hoping to grow and more kids might eventually come.
If you or someone you know could provide this very important time for parents looking to God to help them get healthier - please let me know!
Prayers are welcome till this need is met!

Had a wonderful meeting last night at Overcomers! Still small, but there was a spirit of love and unity that is growing each week. Started work on Step 4 -- gave out worksheets, attached if you are wanting one, this is from AA.
Scripture verse was Nehemiah 8:7-10

Co-chair, Ray Whitlock, brought forth some great points from 9:23-25 when Jesus cast the demons out of a man's son. When Jesus asked him if he had faith, he replied: Lord, I believe - help my unbelief!
As we do Step 4, making a searching and moral inventory of ourselves = we need to find areas where we have some degree of unbelief that might hinder our moving forward, and allow God to remove the character flaws our inventory reveals.

God will help you! He is not asking questions of you to condemn you, He is not confronting you in the areas where you are weak or missing the mark (definition of sin). His desire is to raise you up to be the Child of God you were created to be - throughout eternity.

Let's start today allowing God to help our unbelief!!

Romas 8: 18-25:
18I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us. 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God. 20For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but because of the One who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation itself will be set free from its bo***ge to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

22We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time. 23Not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.

26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. 27And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Hope everyone's summer is going well. Attendance has been spotty this summer - but the unity we are building for those who come is wonderful.
