When Kena became a mentor as a sophomore at Centennial High School, the goal was simply to give back. What they didn't expect was just how much they would grow in the process.

During a recent activity making "emotion puppets," Nola designed a puppet representing her happiness, complete with a shiny silver dress. Supporting her through that project unlocked Nola’s deep love for drawing and art, while reminding Kena that grand gestures aren't necessary to build real trust—you just have to show up.

While Nola gains a dedicated champion to nurture her confidence, Kena is sharpening vital communication skills and fueling a lifelong passion for helping others.

Let's be real: most of our biggest wins didn't come from getting everything right the first time. They came from the moments when we failed, got it wrong, or leaned into our vulnerabilities. When we look back, what stands out most is usually the person who was right there in the mess with us.

Success isn't about being perfect; it's about the vulnerability it takes to grow and the mentors who refuse to let us navigate our mistakes alone. We don't need experts to guide us, we just need people who won't walk away when things get complicated.

Big Sister Elsa is honoring her late husband Phil Soma's legacy through a heartfelt contribution to help fund scholarships awarded through our Voice of Potential Program. Among the Littles benefiting from this support is Angel Hernandez, a Mechanical Engineering student at California State University, Long Beach and a 2025 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America BIG Futures Scholarship recipient. Like Phil, Angel is pursuing a career in engineering, creating a special connection between Phil's legacy and Angel's promising future.

There is nothing quite like a FULL day at the happiest place on earth to celebrate a truly magical bond!

Inland Empire Match and Big & Little of the Year, Julian and Noah, won Disneyland tickets at a Match Engagement event and finally cashed them in for the ultimate park day. We are talking a real marathon day from a 6:30 AM pickup all the way until collapsing back at home at 9:00 PM! From rope drop to closing out the night, these two made every single second count. Seeing Julian and Noah celebrate their well-deserved honor with a day full of rides, laughs, and lasting memories is exactly what the Big Brothers Big Sisters magic is all about: a whole lot of core memories unlocked!

Nearly 100 young men came together in Anaheim this weekend for a day centered on mentorship, leadership and opportunity. 💚

The inaugural California Men’s Service Challenge brought together first responders, community leaders, employers and mentors to help young people explore future career paths, build confidence and feel more connected to their community.

From hands-on activities to powerful personal stories from BBBS Voices of Potential Alessandro and Angel, the day was full of inspiration and hope.

Thank you to all of our incredible partners and leaders who helped make this day possible.

More highlights from this unforgettable day coming soon!

It’s the simple, steady moments, the laughing, the talking, and the quiet support that have turned Natalie and Haydee’s match into something life-changing. Over the past year, Haydee’s intentionality and "showing up" have created a safe space where Natalie feels she can finally be heard and valued. As they head into their final year together, they aren't just checking off activities; they are soaking up every second and cementing a bond built on the kind of trust that only comes from time and consistency.
