What an incredible day at Walter Munk Day! 💚

GuudSeed Initiative had the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful children, families, organizations, and community leaders. Our CPR Hero Obstacle Course was a huge success—children learned how to ring the alarm, perform chest compressions, and use an AED while having fun and building confidence.

People were truly impressed by our programs, and we received several exciting partnership requests! But the biggest honor was being personally asked by Mrs. Munk to return next year. Yes—we have already been invited back! 🙌🏾

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, supporters, and everyone who stopped by our table, participated in the obstacle course, scanned our QR code, or asked how they could partner with us. Today confirmed that our work is needed—and people are paying attention.

GuudSeed Initiative is planting seeds, growing futures, and helping create a community of CPR Heroes who are prepared to act instead of standing by.

Next year, we’re coming back even bigger! 🌱💚

This wasn’t just another event—it was the beginning of something bigger.

Our very first Youth Braiding Class and Juneteenth Community Celebration in Blythe was an incredible success!

We are beyond grateful to our amazing partners:

A special thank you to the California State Representative who stopped by to congratulate us on this historic milestone. That recognition reminds us that when communities come together, incredible things happen.

Watching students learn new skills, build confidence, and discover opportunities reminded us exactly why GuudSeed Initiative exists.

This is more than braiding.
It’s workforce development.
It’s entrepreneurship.
It’s culture.
It’s confidence.
It’s legacy.

Today's Juneteenth event was a success due to the e
Strategic collaboration between GUUDSEED Initiative, Blythe Chamber of Commerce, Palo Verde College, and UMOJA. The community had the opportunity to enjoy a special tribute to our elders and special people in the City of Blythe. Large games, line dancing With Hypnotik Steppazz, a DJ playing all the summer jams, live band that was awesome, good food, and vendors, while also experiencing the fellowship that bridges cultures and communities, a core aspect of GuudSeed Initiatives mission. Additionally, the braiding class was successful in teaching students basic braiding skills and providing them with tools to start their own businesses. GuudSeed Initiative

GSI Youth Braiding Camp – Class Description

The GSI Youth Braiding Camp is a hands-on summer program designed to empower girls ages 10–15 through the art of braiding, self-expression, and entrepreneurship. More than just a hair class, this camp teaches practical skills that build confidence, creativity, patience, and self-sufficiency.

Participants will learn foundational braiding techniques, proper hair care practices, parting methods, braid patterns, and styling fundamentals in a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment. Girls will also explore personal development topics including leadership, teamwork, professionalism, goal setting, and entrepreneurship.

Throughout the program, students will practice on mannequins and live models while developing skills that can become a lifelong talent, side business, or future career pathway. The camp concludes with a Graduation and Showcase Day where participants can demonstrate their newly acquired skills and celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends.

Camp Details

* Ages: 10–15
* Schedule: Every Tuesday in July
* Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
* Cost: $99 Registration Fee
* Includes: Braiding instruction, workbook, practice materials, certificate of completion, snacks, activities, and graduation celebration
