RCBA Barristers

RCBA Barristers The Barristers is the Young Attorney's Division of Riverside County Bar Association (RCBA). Attorneys of all ages are always welcome at Barristers meetings.

If you are within your first 7 years of practice OR under 37 years of age, then congratulations, you are a Barrister. The Riverside County Barristers Association is a group of young and new attorneys in Riverside County and surrounding areas. Our Bylaws define Barristers membership as any attorney that is under 37 years of age or within their first 7 years of practice. Law students and community

members are also encouraged to attend! Our Bylaws require that Barristers members also be members of the Riverside County Bar Association. We welcome those who are not-members of the RCBA to attend Barristers meetings, but membership in Barristers is required to vote in elections for the Board of Directors and any proposed bylaw amendments. Join Barristers and make a difference in the lives of our members, our legal community, and our county! Members enjoy:

-- Quarterly General Meetings with MCLE credits offered

-- 2-3 Social Events per month
i.e. happy hours, bowling, paint and wine nights, mini-golf, ceramic painting, go-karting, rock climbing, hikes, game night, movie nights, annual dodge ball tournament

-- Partnership with RCBA and other Bar Association Young Adult Divisions in putting on meetings, mixers, and social events throughout the county

-- Community Outreaches
i.e. serve food in homeless shelters, pack food at local food banks, clothing drive, RCBA Elves Program

-- Sections within Barristers, giving YOU the opportunity to have your voice be heard, put your ideas in motion, and
make a difference in our community

Looking back on an incredible evening at our 7th Annual Judicial Reception!

This was an opportunity to celebrate not only two remarkable honorees—Judge Sophia Choi and Steven Harmon—but also the strength of the Riverside legal community as a whole.

One of the things that makes our profession so meaningful is the people who invest their time, wisdom, and leadership into helping others grow. This year’s honorees embody that spirit. Their careers have left a lasting impact on our courts, our profession, and the attorneys who have had the privilege of learning from them.

To everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered, and supported this event—thank you. Your commitment to our legal community is what makes gatherings like this possible.

As we look back on this year’s reception, we’re reminded that the future of our profession is built through mentorship, service, and community. We are grateful to be part of that tradition and excited for what lies ahead for Barristers.

⚖️ RCBA Barristers Elections are almost here… and this year’s Election Night is shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet!

We’ve seen incredible interest from members who want to step up, serve, and help shape the future of Barristers and the Riverside legal community, which speaks volumes about the strength, energy, and momentum of this organization.

After an incredible turnout the last few years, we’re excited to bring this event back for another unforgettable day of great wine, great conversations, and even better company.

Swing into Summer with RCBA Barristers! 🏌🏻‍♀️⛳️☀️

Join us on Wednesday, June 3 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Van Buren Golf Center/Brooks Bar in Riverside for an evening of golf, food, laughs, and great company as we kick off the summer together. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just coming for the vibes, this is the perfect chance to connect with Barrister members and friends of the Riverside legal community.

Introducing our 2026 Barristers Judicial Officer of the Year: Hon. Sophia Choi.

20 years ago, Judge Choi was a young attorney getting involved in the Barristers Association and Riverside County Bar Association for the very first time. What she found there were mentors, friendships, and a legal community that helped shape both her career and her life.

Now, two decades later, she returns to that same community to be honored as our Judicial Officer of the Year.

Her message is a wise reminder to all attorneys, especially younger lawyers: get involved early, build genuine relationships, and find mentors who will guide you not only through the practice of law, but through life itself. As Judge Choi shared, the legal community becomes the people who help you through difficult seasons, teach you lessons both professionally and personally, and help shape the person you become.
