Exciting things are happening at Soroptimist House of Hope 🎉 last week we joined our client SHoH for their groundbreaking celebration for their new property in Desert Hot Springs. This incredible ranch will be transformed into a 14-bed residential recovery home for women. This expansion will also allow the current home to become a dedicated 6-bed detox facility, building a robust continuum of care for women on their recovery journey.

When it comes to how we work with our clients, we want to see the work in action! Yesterday we stopped in at ABC Hopes for a meeting and took a look at how the splatter art room is coming along. How amazing is this?! That “love yourself” message was so special to see - special thanks to the Hoper who added that because you made our day. 💙💛

ABC Hopes is more than fitness and life skills - they’ve done an exceptional job at also bringing mental and emotional wellness access to individuals with disabilities. So many IDD serving organizations focus on skills that empower this population to live more independently, but not often do you see organizations taking it a step further and pouring into the emotional and mental needs of this population. But ABC Hopes does and they’re just getting started ✨

You got a surprise grant!!!..or did you? 👀

Nonprofits: before you open that unexpected grant opportunity, read this! Recently our clients have been receiving an influx of scam grant solicitations. While the “funder” may present as a legitimate organization, it’s important to look out for these red flags:
🚩Funding doesn’t match the funder
🚩The URL isn’t accurate
🚩They want you to open a PDF
🚩The contact info is off

Biggest takeaway: don’t just research the legitimacy of the funder, make sure the funding opportunity is real! And most importantly, if something feels off, call the organization directly to confirm.

As grant writers, our team spends a lot of time digging into the data behind the challenges faced by the communities we serve. In many cases, it’s the research that stops us in our tracks.

Defining the need is a critical part of telling our clients’ stories, so we are starting a series to share the most startling numbers we uncover; the numbers that highlight the purpose of the nonprofits we partner with.

This data is a powerful reminder that “just leave” is rarely that simple. For many survivors, they spend months - sometimes years - building up the resources they need to leave safely. Casino Night with CARE 🎰🎲

Last weekend we got to celebrate our client TCP, Inc. for their annual casino night fundraiser! Working with nonprofits of all sizes, we go to a lot of events every year - big galas to local eatery fundraisers. One thing is for sure: our friends at The CARE Project know how to celebrate survivors! This event is FUN but keeps the mission at the heart.

This year, Casino Night was held at theriversideairportcafe which brought an added touch as we celebrated at a place that is so special to the Riverside community.

At The CARE Project, we work tirelessly to support men + women and their families through a breast cancer diagnosis. From detection to treatment, and in some cases walking the journey alongside families through the transition to the afterlife, TCP steps in to pay copays, rent, utilities, and provide mental health support. We can’t do this alone - reach out today to make a financial contribution or donate basic needs/gifts cards to help ease the financial stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

This is a real message I just sent a client as we’re working through a federal proposal. Some people might think these are just “buzz words” but they carry powerful meaning backed by action. I’ve been doing this for 15+ years and never did I think this would be a reality.

Rich in time ⏳

If you asked us both what we feel is the most important thing we gain from entrepreneurship, we’ll always say the same thing: TIME. Our goal was never to be financially rich, it was always to be rich in time. We used that time to escape to the Oregon Outback for a few days while our INCREDIBLE team held down the fort behind the scenes. There were still a couple of things that needed our direct attention, which meant answering emails from a hammock in the middle of Lassen National Forest and taking a call on the side of the road in the Sierras before going off the grid.

This is our why.💫
