As the Riverside County Board of Supervisors begins to explore Sheriff accountability measures through an Ad Hoc Committee, we as a community have much work to do to ensure independent Sheriff oversight in Riverside County.

Professor Susan Phillips from the Robert Redford Conservancy provides her take on the Bloomington Business Park and how the community does not need the global community to “save it” or “improve it”. This project in her view is a result of predatory industrial zoning.

Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes reached out to SB City leadership about grave concerns brought up by community members and organizations over the City looking into applying for the Department of Justice’s Model Cities Initiative Grant. SB City leadership has communicated that they are no longer considering applying for this grant. City of Coachella, support residents and approve a permanent ban on AI Data center development!!

This afternoon the City has a public hearing to take steps to prohibit data center uses within the City of Coachella.

We strongly encourage the City of Coachella to ban data center uses to better safeguard the community from such an intensive development. Also, we ask that the City always consider community wellbeing and benefits prior to starting any large scale projects.

San Bernardino SAY no to the Model Cities Initiative Grant!!

Originally scheduled as a consent calendar item for the Aug 5th meeting, the City of San Bernardino was going to entertain voting to move forward to apply for the Department of Justice’s Model Cities Initiative Grant this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon the City Clerk notified the public that this item was pulled from the agenda.

We strongly encourage the City of San Bernardino to abandon the effort to apply for the Model Cities Grant and make a strong commitment to protecting residents from immoral and predatory tactics from the Federal government. Public safety should take into account the well being of the community!
