YOGA MUSIC NIGHTS ARE BACK!!! ♥️

Gather in community for an evening of kirtan - the yogic practice of singing together in community. Rooted in the tradition of bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion, kirtan invites us out of our individual experience and into something shared. We repeat simple melodies and sacred sounds, allowing rhythm, voice, and collective presence to quiet the mind, open the heart, and deepen our sense of connection. Together, we listen. Together, we sing. Together, we connect.

No musical experience is needed. Sing, play, listen, or simply rest in the sound. There is no performance and no audience. We create the music together. Come as you are. Add your voice or simply receive.

SAVE THE DATE! ♥️
Saturday morning September 26th we’ll be honoring the Autumn Equinox with sun salutations at Community Yoga Center (2900 Adams Street, Suite A-20, Riverside, CA 92504) and we hope you’ll consider practicing with us. The practice will begin around 7:30am.

Practicing cycles of sun salutes with mantra is a beautiful yogic practice of offering gratitude for the light-giving force of the sun and recognizing the gift of life itself. It’s a practice of reverence and commitment, and a special opportunity to connect in community.

It can also be a practice of tapas. The Sanskrit word “tapas” can be translated to English to mean “heat causing change.” Practicing tapas involves purposely staying in the crucible of intense experience until the flames die to embers - embers that carry the potential to spark real transfiguration. Tapas recognizes the reality of suffering and asks us to willingly bear adversity in order to open up to greater insight. It knows that sometimes we are unaware of our own capacity unless we’re challenged and discover within ourselves a force that matches the adversity we face.

Practicing sun salutations can be an act of tapas - a kind of challenge that asks us to meet it with enough inspired passion, fortitude, and patience to willingly (and even enthusiastically) endure intense experience. If you’re interested in welcoming intense experience in this way - as part of the whole of our human experience, please consider practicing sun salutes with us on the Autumn Equinox. It holds the potential to connect us all with a fierce kind of grace. ♥️ -Kristin

VOLUNTEER AT COMMUNITY YOGA CENTER
The care, creativity, and generosity of our community members help make the center the welcoming and heartful place it is. If you have been looking for a way to become more involved, we warmly invite you to bring your practice into community through service.

There are five committees at Community Yoga Center, each offering a different way to contribute:

♥️ House Committee - Caring for the Space

Help tend the physical home of the yoga center through routine cleaning, plant care, organizing, and basic maintenance. This may be a wonderful fit if you enjoy creating order, beauty, and calm behind the scenes.

♥️ Hospitality Committee - Welcoming Folks & Providing Nourishment

Help create a warm sense of belonging by welcoming people and assisting with beverages, snacks, and meals at community gatherings. If you love feeding people, meeting new faces, or helping others feel at home, you may enjoy serving here.

♥️ Activities Committee - Creating Connection & Joy

Help bring our community together by supporting the calendar and creating events, gatherings, and opportunities to connect. This is a great place for planners, organizers, collaborators, and anyone who enjoys bringing people together.

♥️ Outreach Committee - Extending the Circle

Help share the story of Community Yoga Center and invite others into what we offer through grassroots communication, newsletters, social media, and community events. If communication, storytelling, creativity, or connecting with others energizes you, consider joining us.

♥️ Special Projects Committee - Caring for Learning Resources

Help care for our library and make books and other learning resources organized, accessible, and inviting. Book lovers, organizers, and thoughtful system-builders may especially enjoy this opportunity.

If you feel inspired to serve, please take a little time to consider which committee resonates most with you. Think about what you enjoy, what you might like to learn, and where your presence and energy could be useful. Then let me know where you’d like to serve.

I appreciate you considering this service opportunity.
With Love,
Kristin

NEW CLASS! Mandala Yoga with Alejandro Yamas

We’re excited to announce a new class at Community Yoga Center! Join Alejandro Yamas for Mandala Yoga, a playful and fluid practice that moves through a circular sequence of postures, inviting you to experience yoga from a fresh perspective.

Mandala Yoga combines flowing vinyasa with intentional breathing and concentration. The circular sequences are designed to strengthen the body and bring mobility to the joints, while giving you the freedom to explore the practice with your own energetic emphasis - moving in a way that can be smooth and contemplative or vibrant and strong.

Alejandro brings a bright energy and a deep love of yoga to his teaching. He approaches yoga as a way to connect body, breath, and inner experience. On the mat, we practice presence and awareness; beyond the mat, we carry those qualities into how we meet ourselves and move through our lives.

We’re excited to welcome Alejandro and this joyful new practice to Community Yoga Center! Come move, breathe, and experience the mandala with us.

BRING A FRIEND TO YOGA♥️

There’s something better about yoga when we share it. This August, we’re encouraging you to bring a friend to community yoga! When you bring someone who hasn’t attended any of our 20 FREE yoga classes you’ll both receive an opportunity to win a gift card. And, you can enter again and again! Every time you bring someone new to practice, you and your friend each receive an opportunity to win.

HOW IT WORKS:

• Come to any community yoga class at Community Yoga Center or All Saints Episcopal Church.
• Bring a friend who is new to the community yoga offerings.
• You and your friend receive an opportunity to win a gift card.
• Bring another new friend another day – the new friend gets entered into the opportunity to win and you get entered again!
• We’ll draw from all the August entries and announce the winner on September 1, 2026.

No purchase necessary, of course – all our classes are FREE! ♥️

Maybe there’s someone in your life who could benefit from intentional movement and mindfulness in a peace-filled space? Maybe you could be that friend that invites them to practice with us in commUNITY?

You might win a gift card! But even better, you might introduce someone you care about to a practice - and a community - they’ll come to love.

We can’t wait to welcome you both.♥️

MOODY MONDAYS WITH CHERIE AMOUR
What if Monday evening didn’t include another thing “to do”? What if, instead, it was an invitation to pause, rest, and be?

What if it was an invitation to step away from the noise - the notifications - the incessant busyness that can make us forget what it feels like to simply be.

Every Monday evening, Cherie lovingly curates a mood-evoking space for restorative yoga and deep relaxation.

There is no striving or performing or agenda.

Just an invitation to listen inward - to allow the body unwind - to let the mind open.

Come as you are - tender, tired, joyful, hopeful, moody. Every mood is welcome here.

MEET YOUR TEACHER: VIVIAN ARIAS ♥️
Yoga is more than movement - it’s a kind of conversation - with yourself - and the world. As a poet-yogi Vivian Arias is adept at cultivating conditions that help you listen.

With a passion for health and wellness and a lifelong devotion to the literary arts, Vivian brings together kinesthetic movement, creative expression, and thoughtful attention in her sharing of yoga. Her classes invite a keen awareness of the body-mind - where breath draws us into the present, movement becomes a form of inquiry, and moments of stillness offer space to notice, reflect, and connect more deeply with ourselves and one another.

Vivian co-facilitates Sunset Slowdown with Kimberly Jones on Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. at Community Yoga Center. This practice invites you to transition from the fullness of the day into a more spacious state of ease and relaxation. Through mindful movement and restorative stretching, Sunset Slowdown helps release tension, calm the nervous system, and prepare the body and mind for a rest-full evening.

Balancing strength with softness, effort with ease, and movement with rest, Vivian’s teaching offers a practice designed to help you unwind, reconnect, and transition into the rest of your day with intention and presence.

We’re back!

After a month of radical rest, I’m excited to resume group practice at Community Yoga Center beginning August 1. This past month has been an invitation to restore, refresh, and explore individual rhythms. Now it’s time to gather together again - to move, breathe, and connect regularly in commUNITY.

I can’t wait to share the space with you again.

See you August 1! ♥️ -Kristin
