The Hofmann Dam River Rats

Based in Riverside & Lyons IL, The Hofmann Dam River Rats advocates for the improvement of our local waterways.

Our goal is to continue the improvement of the fish habitat, rejuvenation of fish species and stabilization of the steam bank.

In June of 2017 some of the River Rats worked their way up and down the Des Plaines river planting Water Willow. 🌱 This plant helps promote growth and creates a natural defense system against pests!

🌿Our Spring 2023 Clean-Up is underway! As volunteers continue to arrive, we disburse through the Cook County forest preserve along the Dis Plains River cleaning up any trash and debris.

The Hofmann Dam River Rats host two Dis Plaines River Clean-Ups a year. One in the spring 🌷 and one in the fall 🍁.
If you, family or a group of friends are interested in helping clean up the Lyons/ Riverside section of the Dis Plaines River our next clean-up is Saturday April 29th!
