Million Kids

Million Kids Million Kids is a nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and intervention of child exploitation through education and support.

Million Kids is dedicated to preventing s*x
trafficking, child po*******hy and s*xtortion through education. As we
spend thousands of hours researching and staying on the cutting edge of
new technology, we see a convergence where the entire
world is connected, artificial intelligence knows everything about you,
the monetization of most apps through crypto-currency and the
availability of mas

s audience live streaming. Young people are at the
center of a changing world and being dramatically impacted
by influences coming via the Internet. Our research and expertise is critical in the
training we provide. We have educated over 400,000 people including some
from the most important government agencies, law enforcement, EMTs,
fire departments, code enforcement and social workers,
as well as children, parents/guardians, therapists, pastors, school
teachers/administrators, foster agencies, and civic groups about how
predators use Internet technology to access, groom, recruit and exploit
young people. Million Kids provides intervention assistance
services to families who may have a loved one that is a victim of s*xual
exploitation. We routinely talk with parents who are struggling with
their child being recruited, blackmailed and exploited. We make referrals to therapists and victim service providers. We also
receive tips from those who see something that looks like it is of
concern and want to know what to do. We work with local law enforcement
to help find missing or runaway teens, many of
those teens had no intention of running away but only wanted to meet up
with someone they met online.

Stay vigilant about your children’s devices because those devices are now the primary doorway into a child’s world for predators, scammers, and harmful content. Monitoring isn’t about spying but about reducing risk, building accountability, and keeping kids safe in a digital environment. The adults staying educated about risks is step one, and then sitting down with your kids to review is step two.

A wolf in sheep's clothing. Predators gain trust online with teens by exploiting the illusion of connection. The key thing to understand is that it doesn't usually start with threats but starts with belonging, validation, and familiarity. The exploiter may say they are a "friend of a friend" and start by messaging through group chats or gaming servers. Teens rarely recognize the danger because it feels normal and slowly escalates.

Predators use mirroring as a psychological manipulation tactic during grooming to make a child feel deeply understood, emotionally connected, and “safe.” It’s one of the most effective tools for lowering defenses because it creates the illusion of instant compatibility and trust.

Watch for someone who always agrees, who shares every interest, who matches emotional struggles too perfectly, who validates rebellion against parents or rules and/or someone who moves quickly into deep emotional conversations.

The CyberTipline mandate refers to the legal duty of electronic service providers (ESPs) including for emails, messaging, social media, cloud storage, hosting, gaming and any computing service that stores or transmits content in the U.S. to report suspected child s*xual exploitation to NCMEC’s CyberTipline.

In addition to CSAM, the REPORT Act now requires ESPs to report online enticement, child s*x trafficking, financial s*xtortion and AI‑generated CSAM when they have actual knowledge of illegal content or activity. They are not required to proactively monitor all user content, to break encryption or search private messages.

This podcast is about the other side of online relationships that no one wants to believe could happen to them. People looking for connection… and instead finding manipulation, grooming, blackmail, or heartbreak engineered by someone who never really existed in the first place.
