Our today stars male harp seal Jasper! Jasper was admitted to NYMRC in March 2026 after stranding in Montauk. The animal appeared dehydrated and underweight in a high traffic beach area. After some time in rehabilitation he tested positive for heartworm and was treated with antibiotics.

As of April 2026, Jasper is no longer on any medication, and is eating quite well! We are very hopeful for a summer release for Jasper.

Jasper is just one of the three new seal patients on our adoption list! Help support these animals’ rehabilitation by symbolically adopting Jasper, Moonstone or Pearl today! Now available on our website!
