An Event Attended by our Executive Director Nilda Mencia and Board Member Trisha Odusami.

What a beautiful morning we shared today! 🌸🍃

​Nature gifted us its finest postcard with a gorgeous lake view to celebrate the Greater Gordon Heights Chamber of Commerce’s 17th Anniversary Brunch. It was an absolute joy for AAECF to be present and enjoy this wonderful event.

​Beyond the beautiful scenery, the best part was the human warmth: a perfect opportunity for meaningful networking, reconnecting with old friends, and meeting new leaders. They even included a delightful moment to teach us all how to dance salsa, adding so much joy and rhythm to the celebration! 💃🏽🎶

A wonderful collaboration to preserve and protect 💜🪶
Alongside our Directors, Orlesha Banks and Orleatra Banks, and Junior Mentees Isabella Blassingame and Leilani Banks-Bailey, joined by Senator Anthony Palumbo’s office, representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Peconic Land Trust, local elected officials, and regional conservation partners, we shared the history of the Belltown Indigenous ancestors and community located within the Indian Island Territory. This collaboration is a powerful step toward preserving our indigenous land, wildlife, waterways, history, and culture for future generations. Broad Cove Preserve in Aquebogue unveiled a newly developed trail enhancements and habitat improvements across the 100-acre preserve once inhabited by the Corchaug native americans and other tribal relatives. The preserve, which has undergone extensive restoration efforts to re-establish its natural ecosystem, was recently added to the New York State Birding Trail. It is now one of only three recognized Birding Trail sites on Long Island’s North Fork, highlighting its growing importance as a destination for birders, nature enthusiasts, and environmental education. turtleisland 🐢 preservetheland.
