A huge Thank you to the Unity Baptist Church of Mattituck for showing their continued support to the homeless community on the east end. Over the weekend dedicated members of the church came to our office and generously cooked meals for the community, and other shelters in the area. We had an amazing time while giving back to the community and we would not have been able to do it without their help. We are truly grateful for their compassion and dedication to help those in need.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Maureen’s Haven 3rd Annual Summer Cocktail Party at the Southampton Inn this Saturday. We would like to thank our supporters, sponsors, volunteers, and staff who made this an incredible evening. We were proud to honor Minerva Perez of OLA of Eastern Long Island for her passion and dedication to serving the latino community, as well as her continued support of Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach. Maureen’s Haven Homeless Outreach… and Animal Rescue? At Maureen’s Haven, helping those in need can take many forms. In the past 2 weeks Maureen’s Haven has helped rescue 2 Cats and ensured 4 dogs were brought to safety and reunited with their owner. A senior citizen facing eviction was left with 2 cats that did not belong to her. She did not want to abandon them so Maureen’s Haven staff, along with a guest, were successful at safely capturing the cats. We brought them to North Fork Animal Welfare League, where they were welcomed for adoption and received veterinarian care. Just yesterday, not 1 but 3 little dogs were running through the neighborhood with no owner in sight. Maureen’s Haven staff and guests quickly reacted and made sure the puppies were safe. We were fortunate to find the owner and brought the pets back home.

A very warm thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who attended our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. Together, we provided emergency winter shelter for a full 5 months, seven days a week during the cold winter months. Over 150 individuals utilized our shelter, comprising of over 4300 beds and over 13,000 meals. We could not accomplish this without their support. From everyone at Maureen's Haven Homeless Outreach, Thank You for your dedication to helping those most in need, individuals and familes experiencing homelessness in our community.
