Peconic Bay Zonta Affiliated with Zonta International, Peconic Bay Zonta aims to empower women and girls through servi Our club derives its income from dues and fundraisers.

Derived from the Lakota, Zonta means honest and trustworthy, and the yellow rose shown on our site is a Zonta symbol, introduced in 1983 at a Zonta International convention. We advocate for women's equality, education and an end to child marriage and gender-based violence. Zonta expands opportunities for women and girls through our international education programs and service projects. For more in

At the local level, Peconic Bay Zonta offers a music scholarship for a high school girt at East End Arts in Riverhead, and biannual scholarships for women who have successfully completed a course in English as a Second Language at the Riverhead campus of Suffolk County Community College. We also contribute goods and services to a local nonprofit community organization, The Butterfly Effect Project, that provides services and activities for girls to increase their confidence and academic success. To mark Zonta International's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, November 25 through December 10, Peconic Bay Zonta has donated $250 to The Retreat, a nonprofit agency in East Hampton, NY, that provides safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse. Peconic Bay’s donation will provide counseling for a survivor.

2023 Zonta Women in STEM Scholarship

The Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarship program encourages women to pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. A single applicant from each of Zonta’s 31 districts worldwide and one region (Region South America) will receive an award of $5,000 US from Zonta International in 2023.

The application process starts at the club level. The Zonta Club of Peconic Bay is now accepting applications. Peconic Bay’s chosen applicant will receive a $300 stipend. Peconic Bay Zonta’s deadline is June 15, 2023.

Peconic Bay Zonta will choose one applicant to submit to Zonta District 3 by July 15, 2023. District 3 will choose one from among all club applicants and submit that applicant to Zonta International for the $5,000 award.

Peconic Bay’s chosen applicant will receive a $300 stipend.
