Car Wash, Bake Sale and Pizza For Surgery Patient
Fundraiser To Help Child’s Family

Riverbank, CA-On Saturday, February 16 from 9 AM – 1 PM, Karate For Kids will hold a carwash and bakesale to raise funds for one of their students who is in need of heart surgery. For any donation amount, participants will get their car or truck washed. While they wait, barbecued hot dogs, chips, cookies, baked goods and beverages can be purchased for any donation amount. Everyone who donates will also receive a coupon for a free karate lesson. Also, all day long, Pizza Plus in downtown Riverbank will help raise funds by donating a portion of the days proceeds to the fundraiser. Both dine in and take out are available from their extensive pizza, sandwich, salad and soup menu. The car wash will be held at 3342 Santa Fe Street and the Pizza Plus fundraiser is at 3308 Santa Fe St. Both are in downtown Riverbank.

According to school owner Scott Pettit “this young boy has been training with us for several years and was planning to test for his Black Belt in a few months which now is put on hold due to his sudden illness. He and his parents have helped us serve this community at various fundraisers for worthy causes and now we hope that the community will help them”.

Thanks to all who stopped by Riverbank Black Belt Academy today for the fundraiser for one of our young students who needs heart surgery. A huge thanks, also, to the the crew who made all of this happen. Your combined efforts helped raise over $900.00 which will help this family with expenses that are not covered by insurance.

The Riverbank Man Of The Year / Citizen Of The Year committee is presenting the annual Citizen / Youth / Business Of The Year Banquet on Saturday, January 19. Social hour is at 6 PM and dinner is at 7 PM. Catering is by Tahoe Joe's of Modesto and includes Tri Tip / Chicken and some of Tahoe Joe's famous side dishes. Tickets are $16.00 and available at City Hall, Sno White, Karate For Kids and others. I live auction will be held during the dinner and all proceeds benefit scholarships for Youth Of The Year nominees.

We hope that you will attend this wonderful event.

Well....another BIG day for Riverbank Cares. This morning, we handed out all of the fixings for a holiday meal to 297 families. Once again, volunteers in Riverbank stepped up and took care of those who needed a little help. I can't tell ya how many people expressed their gratitude for the effort. It is events like this and the people who make them happen that make me proud to be a part of this community.

As always, Riverbank ROCKS!

Today was the BIG day, when Riverbank Cares put smiles on the faces of 313 RIVERBANK kids in need. Each child was able to go home with a bag of toys and it was our pleasure to make it happen. Our thanks to all of the volunteers who helped make these dreams come true and the businesses who collected toys and the donors who dug deep so we could buy toys to give away. Todays volunteers were from Riverbank High School, local churches and organizations, City of Riverbank, Riverbank Karate For Kids, Stanislaus County Sheriff's STARS and of course Santa and Mrs Claus (with a lift from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department and Riverbank Police Services).

Thank you all, a million times over.

Tuesday, December 18 is our annual Toy Give Away for Riverbank kids in need. We will be prepping for the event starting at 9 AM and would love any toys that you would like to donate. Cash is also appreciated. We are desperately in need of both as we have about 500 kids signed up for the event. You can drop your donation at Karate For Kids, 3342 Santa Fe St, Riverbank or at City Hall on the corner of Third and Santa Fe Street. Call 480-2271 for more info.

The annual food and toy drive is officially underway. If you have a non-perishable food item or toy that you would like to donate, several businesses around town are collecting but ONLY Riverbank Cares collection boxes are guaranteed to be distributed to Riverbank citizens in need. Feel free to email me at [email protected] for a list of businesses where you can drop off your donation or stop by Karate For KIds at 3342 Santa Fe St and we will handle things for you. There is only 2 weeks left to collect toys and food as they will be distributed the week of the 17th. Monetary donations are also accepted.

If you are planning to attend this Saturdays Christmas Festival and Parade in Downtown Riverbank and you have a food or toy item that you would like to donate, please feel free to drop it off at the snack bar / BBQ that will be located in the Craft Faire. They will see that it gets to the right folks.

Tomorrow is our turkey drive at Les Schwab across from Galaxy Theater. We will be out there from 9AM to 3PM and we accept turkeys, hams, other food items and toys.
