Da Struggle is Real, Inc., is a non-profit organization, faith-based effort to address more awareness and help of homeless men and women on the streets of the city of Detroit, MI, River Rouge, MI and Windsor, ON.
Our purpose is to . .
Support and partner up with other non-profit organizations, resources, and sponsors to help, those who live on the edge of our society, the ones who are looked bad upon because the rest of the society considers them waste now.
Not only to feed them, but to help them. They Need to get back on their feet, they may even need help to get and stay clean. They may need help rebuilding relationships with their families, just simply rebuilding their lives.
They need resources, we can help them with that! They need food and shelter we can also help with that.
Can you imagine waking up and not being able to brush your teeth?
Or as a woman, not be able to wash your lady parts in the morning?
Just imagine sleeping on the hard cement or bench. Just not being able to eat 1 meal a day.
Take a second just to walk a day in their shoes. we need people to stop rolling their eyes when they see them, they live a struggle every single day.. that’s hard enough. Stop saying it's their fault! we don’t know why they are, were they are. Lets get to know them, know their struggle, know their story. They need us, remember that !
Our goal is to address the plight of homelessness in Detroit by fixing meals at memorial Park, In River Rouge, MI to start. We also collaborate with like-minded organizations to reach similar goals - We have partnered with the organization Feed Da Streetz Tour. We want to reach out to more areas of Michigan, build more homes, involve more volunteers, and ultimately have more service projects & events.
We offer companies and other organizations the opportunity to have a community service event by donating funds to pay for food and propane and bringing out employees to be our volunteer staff to prepare and serve hot dinner at the park..
This has been a goal of mine, to help the less fortunate for as long as I can remember.
I remember driving on I-75 with my mom when I was 8 years and would look at the over pass and see homeless men and woman sleeping up there. All I could think was what went so wrong in their life that they had to sleep and suffer outside and had to struggle to eat EVERYDAY. I saw 1 man one day when I was 13 and he asked me for money from behind, when I turned around and he noticed I was a teenager he apologized, I looked at him and tears rushed to my eyes. I told him no need to apologize, you need this more than me.. He wouldn’t take it at first , but after about 10 times going back and forth he accepted. That day I vowed to help those in need 1 day. I said when I am rich I am going to make a difference. The only thing I didn’t realize was I didn't have to be rich to help out, I just needed motivation and the right help..
