đź’ś Community Check-In đź’ś

Hi friends — we just wanted to take a moment to check in with you.

How are you really doing this week?

At Turningpoint, we support survivors of domestic and sexual violence — and we know that life can feel overwhelming sometimes. Whether you’re feeling strong, struggling, hopeful, exhausted, or somewhere in between — your feelings are valid and you matter.

If you need support, resources, safety planning, or just someone to listen, our advocates are here for you 24/7. You are not alone. đź’ś

Drop a 💜 in the comments if you need a little extra encouragement this week, or share something that’s bringing you comfort right now.

We’re grateful for this community. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Would you like to make the holidays brighter for a family in need?

Turningpoint's Holiday Program connects generous donors with survivors of intimate partner violence and their children.

There is significant need this year.

There are fourteen children and teens (ages 2 - 16) and seven adult survivors who still haven't been matched with donors.

If you are able to purchase an item from a survivor's holiday wish list--or if you would like to purchase gifts for an entire family--please call us at 715-425-6751, or reach out to [email protected] for further information.

Thank you for your support!

đź’ś October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month đź’ś

Domestic violence affects millions of people every year — and it’s more common than many realize. Here are some important facts:

1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience severe intimate partner physical violence in their lifetime.

Domestic violence impacts people of all ages, races, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Survivors often face barriers to seeking help, including fear, stigma, and lack of resources.

This month, we stand together to raise awareness, support survivors, and work toward ending domestic violence in our communities. đź’ś

📌 You can help:

Educate yourself and others about domestic violence.

Support local organizations and shelters.

Speak up safely if you see someone in danger.

Together, we can make a difference. đź’ś

Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence expresses deep sorrow and concern following the recent violence in our community over the past several days.

These tragic incidents serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for increased awareness, prevention, and support for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

In just four days, St. Croix County has faced the unimaginable loss of two lives to violence.

Turningpoint extends our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends impacted by these senseless tragedies. We stand in solidarity with the victims and their loved ones, recognizing the immense grief and trauma that accompany such loss.

“While we are devastated by the violence that has occurred, we are also motivated to take action,” said Alena Taylor, Executive Director of Turningpoint. “We must all come together as a community to raise awareness about the signs of domestic violence and to support those who may be suffering in silence. Violence against women—and all forms of violence—must end.”

If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, please reach out for help. Turningpoint is available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year via its crisis hotline
at 800-345-5104; by phone at 715-425-6751 locally; or via text at 715-821-8626.

Did you know that Turningpoint operates a food and hygiene pantry for our program participants? According to a 2019 article by SafeHouse Center Executive Director Barbara Niess-May, "the intersection of poverty and domestic violence can 1) exacerbate the impact of the abuse, 2) cause an exceptional loss of resources for the survivor and 3) lessen positive outcomes for a survivor. In short, being poor further entraps the survivor in the abuse, and often lengthens any process [they] may go through to escape—as well lengthens entrapment in poverty." As a non-profit organization, we recognize that survivors may need access to free food and hygiene products. If you are looking to support your community, Turningpoint is looking for some food and hygiene products to stock our pantry. For more information, please contact Bri at [email protected]
