Today, we pause to remember and celebrate the life of one of our cherished leaders, Judie Foster Babcock.

Judie was our inaugural president, and her dedication and vision laid the foundation for everything we are today. She worked tirelessly to set us up for success, always leading with kindness, thoughtfulness, and an unwavering commitment to the River Falls community.

As shown in the clip below, Judie’s passion for the environment and her love for this community were evident to everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Her generosity, compassion, and strong sense of philanthropy touched countless lives and will continue to inspire us.

Rest in peace, Judie. We will forever honor your memory and strive to carry your legacy forward. You will be deeply missed, our fearless leader.

Today, Kinni Corridor Collaborative presented the City of River Falls with a check for $62,500, completing their share of funding for the feasibility study being conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) on the Kinnickinnic River Corridor.

The projected cost of the feasibility study is $750,000. In 2023, the City signed a cost share agreement with the USACE, which stipulated that the federal government pay the first $100,000 of study costs and 50% thereafter. The City's cost share was $325,000, of which KCC signed on to pay fifty percent.

The agreement enabled the USACE to begin a feasibility study to determine whether there is a federal interest in undertaking a river restoration project on the Kinni and whether removal of one or both dams would bring benefits that outweigh costs.

The $162,500 from the KCC is supported by gifts from individuals, businesses, non-profit member organizations, and foundations that support the vision of a free-flowing Kinnickinnic River.

We would like to give special thanks to: Bye, Goff and Rohde Partners; Babcock RI Trust/Joyful Baseflow Fund; Kinni River Land Trust on behalf of the Art and Martha Kaemmer Fund of the HRK Foundation; Kinni Corridor Fund of the St. Croix Valley Foundation; Trout Unlimited; and the KCC Fundraising Committee.

Welcome!

The Kinni Corridor Collaborative is a new community-lead, non-profit organization tasked with implementing the Kinnickinnic River Corridor Plan (KRCP). While we will be working closely with the city to complete many of tasks outlined in the KRCP, we are not a government entity. Some of our members were involved with the planning process, however our organization was created after the plan was approved by the River Falls City Council.

We understand that the Kinni Corridor is an important aspect of our community and there are multiple viewpoints on how things should be done surrounding our beautiful natural resource. While we encourage open and honest discussion, we ask that you remain tactful and respectful in your comments towards others who are part of our community.
