Our 2nd Annual St Croix EDC Scale up Pitch Competition last week Thursday was a great success! We heard from seven amazing local businesses and had a really tough time narrowing down the winners. Congrats to our winners:

Earlier this week, SCEDC board members and retention committee members had the chance to visit The Ornament Shop in Hudson. The Ornament Shop offers hand personalized Christmas ornaments, custom ornaments, and customizable Christmas ornaments for every occasion. Yes, we said HAND personalized right here - . Each year, they fulfill about 46,000 orders from all over the US and beyond. Their top sellers are graduation, drivers license, and baby's 1st ornaments. Today we learned about Nucor Rebar Fabrication Midwest in Roberts, WI! This is only one of many locations in North America where they take pride in their team members and focus on sustainability. Their rebar is hidden inside some of the largest projects including the US Bank Stadium. We were all really impressed with how well they take care of their team members in both pay, benefits but most importantly, empowering them to be part of the solution. St. Croix County small businesses - exciting news! St. Croix EDC was selected as one of ten recipients of the second round of the Small Business Development Grant through Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation! We have three grant programs and a pitch competition where we will be distributing $220,000 of grants directly to small businesses in our community.
