Members wanted to know so we are posting information about the wide variety and many sizes of quilts that can be made.
While some of the non profits we serve may have specific requirements for size and construction, most do not. We can find a home for all types and sizes of quilts!

The tying team tied two quilts for Doreen. Story behind the green one: it started out with 4 decorative deer pillow cover panels. She surrounded the square panels with forest theme fabric that once were her cabin curtains. The brown and green border & squares were made from bed sheet scraps and the batting was a pieced blanket. Shows you can use what you have!
Second quilt made with 8” wildlife squares alternated with 4-patch squares, another perfect masculine quilt for a Kinnic Falls gentleman.

Carol F. showed 11 quilts and helpfully named and measured each. Four were various sizes of throws and seven were twins. Some were made from fabrics packaged together by De.
Throws were named “Skunk Hollow”, “Bits & Pieces”, “Pretty Pastels” & “Pretty with Pink”.
Twins were named “Black & White All Around” with flannel backing. “Court Yard Path” had the perfectly matched borders. “Herringbone” a masculine quilt using browns/golds/white fabrics. “Hash Tag” she used various green/grey and white large blocks. A scrappy “Chip & Dip” was made of many-colored strips. “American Classic” she pieced the backing using red & black fabric in a T-shape. “Red All Around” she backed with fabric donated by Rachel. Wow Again!

RECAP OF January 16th gathering:
Twelve members attended and 5 quilts were tied! We had two great teams tying quilts. Awesome/thank you! De & Deb worked in the storage area measuring donated fabric and putting away finished quilts. Geri sorted out embroidery thread and added it to our shoe boxes. Eunice & Cynthia cut off elastic and squared up fitted sheets ready for use as quilt backings.
Updates:
- Geri delivered a benefit quilt and 6 birdseed Dignity bags to Our Neighbor’s Place. They were grateful for the bags and appreciated the benefit quilt for their Casino Night event in February.
- De delivered 18 small (19 inch square) and 5 medium (27 inch square) sized blankets to Halo's of the St. Croix Valley in New Richmond.
- We changed up our display in the overflow area in St. Bridget’s. The quilt is called “Tea Time” an embroidered block wheelchair throw, which is intended for a Comfort of Home building made by Mary Ann.
- Eunice made contact with the River Falls Free Clinic representative for their Silent Auction. We will donate a benefit quilt when they are ready for one.
- Six more quilts were delivered on January 23 to Kinnic Falls. They were enthusiastic to receive them. Their facility was at full capacity of 50 beds; some will be completing their 90 days in February.
- So far with the unusual winter we are having there isn’t a need for more warm hats/headbands at the River Falls school district or St. Bridget’s School. They will store nicely in our bins. When we do get winter, we have plenty to distribute.
Thanks to Carol for bringing moist Italian sweet bread; which has a citrus taste sweetened with dry fruit. A tradition at Christmas for Carol’s family. She also made Cashew Clusters made with cashews coated with white chocolate. Yummy treats!

Show and Tell- Doreen has 2 quilts ready to go to Kinnic Falls gentlemen. The tying team tied this red & white 4-patch quilt with red embroidery floss. The squares were all cut by Geri from scraps! This is the 2nd quilt Doreen has made with Geri's pre-cut squares.
The top of the green/brown all flannel quilt was originally sized as a throw. By adding unique borders, she upsized it to make a twin quilt. Both quilts will be delivered to Kinnic Falls in January.

Show and Tell from our non-sewing, scrap-cutting/organizing wizard Geri – She knitted 5 more multicolored children’s size warm hats. She also brought in more birdseed bags to be made into Dignity bags and shopped the post Christmas sales bins in order to donate ribbons for the next Christmas throw wrapping. Always thinking ahead! Thanks Geri!
