Happy Birthday to you...its Flag Day! On this day in 1777 the design of the American flag was adopted by the newly formed country! With the unchangeable foundation of the 13 red and white stripes, representing the 13 original colonies, the stars would be added as states would join the union. From the 13 original colonies to the current "nifty" fifty stars, the flag has seen many things and provoked many emotions, but it unifies the past, present, and potential of the future ahead! To celebrate the flag on its Birthday, share your pictures of the flag, or share with us what, or who, the flag represents to you!

Its Friday! Who doesn't want a fiesta on a Friday? Nuestra Casa is the place to be if you want a fiesta! Nuestra Casa has a new twist on the same old Mexican restaurant others offer! While they still honor their heritage in offering great Mexican food, they also offer American style food like wings, burgers, and bbq pulled pork! We would like to thank Nuestra Casa for standing up to make a declaration of support for our flag display this year! Be sure to follow them on Facebook after your party at the New House!

What a week it has been! Incredibly thankful for how our small town displayed their big heart in the process of displaying flags out to the National Cemetery! Our Sunday Spotlight is shining bright on the Rittman Moose Lodge 860 this week. They are a great example of working together with others to benefit the community and its families! Not only helping our Legion Post 423, and The Rittman firefighters association, but also individuals and families. The Rittman Moose Lodge 860 is an integral part of our great community! Be sure to check out their summer concert series and give them a follow on facebook! They are another great way to volunteer in RIttman as well. Thank you for going above and beyond Rittman Moose!

It is finished! The Legion Commander, William "Bill" Crawford finished the display, today, by flying the final flag! Let he who started a good thing finish what he started! The path to displaying, now over 250, American Flags started at the American Legion, Howard A. Bair, Post 423 a couple weeks ago with uncertainty on making the connection to the National Cemetery. With the help of our Mayor, volunteers, and team of sponsors, we were able to march on to Honor those who have gone before us on this 250th year of our great Nation.

The Flag,
More than just a cloth,
It is the quintessential representation of Honor,
The red, white, and blue,
The blood, sweat, and tears,
Uniting the past and present,
Lest no man forget who forged the path before us,
Each star held together by a thread of hope,
Each stripe stitched by lives lost,
Flying high in the sky,
Suspended between the heavens and the land left behind,
Let none fly higher,
Other than those who soar on the wings of eagles!

Let this display Honor those who have gone before us and give Hope to a brighter future. Be sure to follow the flags from Post 423 to the National Cemetery as well as to so many of our sponsors on Main Street who helped make this a reality! The big heart of Rittman is truly on display as well. From our heart to yours, we all work together we all win!

We have great news to share! Thanks to our Mayor, Rudy Arnold, we will be able to exceed our goal of 250 flags as well as connect the display to the National Cemetery! Initially, Wadsworth had denied us the ability to use their electric poles for the display so we adapted and changed our route to ensure 250 flags were displayed. Thanks to the persistence of our Mayor and the acknowledgment of the Wadsworth Mayor of such a special year, we will be able to Honor those who went before us in a special manor as well this year! Tonight's shout out goes Mayor Rudy Arnold and Wadsworth Mayor Robin Laubaugh. We salute you both for your diplomacy!

We currently are planning on assembling the needed flags tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, then displaying those flags Thursday and/or Friday evening based on volunteers availability. If you would like to be involved in the final stretch, feel free to send us a message to coordinate details!

Sunday Spotlight! We would like to shine the brightest of spotlights on a fellow non-profit in Rittman! Just like the Legion is full of members who served our Nation, the Rittman Lions Club is full of members who serve our community! We would like to thank them to the fullest extent for going above and beyond to serve us in our mission to fly 250 American Flags.

If you are looking for a way to serve Rittman and be part of a great group of people check out the Rittman Lions Club as their motto states "We Serve". We would also like to help promote their annual parade coming up in July and encourage all the businesses, churches, and organizations who, so generously, helped us out to help make this parade one to remember on this 250th year of America.
