Rising Sun. Indiana, in the early ’80s, is the scene of the story, and June, the heroine, is an orphan girl who runs away from the poorhouse and comes to the town where her grand- parents are living. She marries a young fellow who is claimed by another woman, and fate so mixes up matters that she is led to believe that her husband is her own brother. Sue Eudaly, the woman in the case, succeeds in fascinating Ben Boone, an unscrupulous politician, and when June’s husband returns with the proofs against her Sue influences Ben to try to murder the man she deceived. The scene takes place in the sawmill. The two men have a struggle, Boone overpowers his opponent, throws him upon a log and starts the saw. He is rescued by June just in the nick of time. And once more attention should be called to the fact that this situation is a “thriller” of uncommon power.
