Vermont Elks Association Vermont Elks support local charities. Our Major project is the Silver Towers Camp for people with disabilities.

Each year, Vermont Elks donate more then $1,200,000 to State and Local charities, and volunteer over 30,000 hours to programs that support our youth, Veterans, and the less fortunate throughout the State. The Camp is the chief charitable project of the Vermont Elks Association, which has owned and operated Silver Towers since 1958. It is among the first of its kind in the United States, and still

remains one of the very few. An overnight retreat for those with mental and physical challenges, the camp demands more focused attention than others, and thus has a high ratio of counselors to campers to accommodate the special needs of the campers. Some of the activities (but not all) that we do at camp: Horse Back riding, Wagon Rides, Story Telling, Hiking, Arts & Crafts, Swimming, Nature, Music, Theater, Cooking, Indoor sports (Bowling, Basketball, Ping Pong, Billiards), Outdoor sports (Soccer, Bocce, Kickball, Softball, Field Games, Bean Bag Toss) and many others. Today we’re highlighting the great work of Barre Elks Lodge #1535

🐾👏 Shout-out to Barre, VT Lodge #1535!

When a vital piece of equipment unexpectedly failed at The Mitzvah Fund, Barre Lodge #1535 stepped up to help.

After the nonprofit was forced to replace a nearly $30,000 ultrasound unit, the Lodge rallied its members through fundraising efforts and donated $605 to support the organization's mission of providing veterinary care for the beloved companions of low-income seniors, veterans, and individuals experiencing homelessness.

The donation was presented by Exalted Ruler Chris Truhan and Tiler Anne Marie Truhan to Lodge member and Mitzvah Fund co-founder and president Deb Glottmann.

Thank you, Barre Lodge #1535, for living the Elks' commitment to compassion and community service. Your generosity is helping ensure that people and their cherished pets continue to receive the care they deserve.

Dolly Parton has long been considered the Patron Saint of the Community Investments Program, thanks to her lifelong commitment to service and dedication to advancing literacy across the country. Through her Imagination Library, children receive a free book every month from birth through age five. Many Lodges, including Kenton, Ohio, Lodge No. 157, have partnered with their local Imagination Library chapters over the years to register children as part of their CIP grant projects.
