Rio Vista Fire Department Hot Shots The Rio Vista Fire Department has a community support group called the “Hot Shots”. It is a non-profit 501c3 organization.

The Mission of the “Hot Shots” is to support the Rio Vista Fire Department with community events and fund raising.

Carbon monoxide is often called the invisible killer because you can’t see it, smell it, or taste it.

If you are without power due, take extra precautions when heating your home. Improper use of fuel-burning equipment can cause carbon monoxide to build up quickly.

Make sure carbon monoxide alarms are installed and working, and never use generators, grills, or fuel-burning devices indoors or in garages.

Your Rio Vista Fire Department Hot Shots began delivery of the LifeVac anti chocking devices in the City of Rio Vista. These devices will be placed in the Community and Senior Center. Along with Fire, city of Rio Vista Police Department and public works vehicles. 8 devices have been gifted to the River Delta Unified School Dist. Distribution is also underway for local restaurants, churches and other locations that serve food. These have been made free of charge thanks to generous support of our fundraiser and other charitable donations. What an amazing and potentially life saving program for our City.

Our community recently experienced a death from choking. Because of this incident the Rio Vista Fire Department Hot Shots would like to supply LifeVac anti-choking devices to organizations which serve meals, in addition we plan to offer it to local restaurants. We will also be providing devices for the River Delta School District cafeterias. Choking is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children, especially those aged 3 years or younger. In 2023, there were around 5,529 choking deaths in the United States. Death from choking is more common among the elderly with food most often responsible for such incidents.
