Kayak New Mexico builds courage, confidence & character for people with physical or developmental special needs, one stroke at a time, through our adaptive kayaking programs. Our motto "Come as you are" encourages people of all ages and abilities to come kayaking with us. By adapting the environment, equipment or teaching methods, we are able to accommodate most consumers into our adaptive kayakin

g programs. Upon completion of the adaptive kayaking program, our students are invited to join the broader paddling community as a continuation to their learning, and ultimately helping our adaptive paddling students strive toward independence in an inclusive community environment. Our programs include kids and adults with Autism and other developmental special needs, programs for Healing Veterans through the VA Medical Center & Wounded Warrior Project, programs for Albuquerque Public Schools Adaptive PE programs and summer camps for kids with Cancer, Autism, Muscular Dystrophy, Wheelchair Sports Camp and others. In the past, Kayak New Mexico has provided Recreational Respite for kids with Autism and homeschool programs for various niche groups.

Reminder - there is no Adaptive Kayaking Event for the month of October. The pool is being renovated. Our November event is on November 15, 2025 at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. Our annual Christmas / Holiday party & potluck will be on December 20, 2025. Bring any food you'd like to share. We'll use the party room for the food. Santa will be coming to hand out stockings.
