ITF Rio Rancho

ITF Rio Rancho The Indigenous Task Force is sponsored by the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Rio Rancho, N.M.

We welcome you to join our monthly "Indigenous Voices" online speaker series and to learn more about our activities in the local area. In the summer of 2021, animated by a news story about graves found at boarding schools in Canada and our own country’s history of cultural genocide, Baha’is in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and neighboring communities met to find a way to honor generations of children a

nd inspire the future. The resulting task force, led by Indigenous Baha’is and supported by friends of various ethnicities, took as its charge the responsibility to provide education and awareness about the broad range of Indigenous experiences and traditions in the local area and far beyond. And, in the process, to pursue friendships among like-minded people who seek to build spiritually and materially vibrant communities.

Baha'is around the world are getting ready to celebrate Ayyam-i-Ha (this year, sunset Feb. 25 to sunset Feb. 29), the annual festival marked by generosity and hospitality for those around us. It's followed by a season of reflection, the 19-Day Fast, which ends with the celebration of the new year at the spring equinox. It's a tradition shared by many cultures in different ways. What's yours?
