Watermelon Mountain Ranch was founded in 1996 by Lee and Sophia DiClemente whose love for animals continues to flow through the day-to-day operations at the Ranch. What began as a grassroots effort with a small dedicated group of volunteers has grown into New Mexico's Largest No Kill Animal Shelter, encompassing a 10 acre main campus facility, two resale stores, offsite adoption centers and various humane programs serving the community. These programs include our Canine/Feline Foster Care, Humane Education, Volunteers, on- site Vet Clinic, Lee's Retirement Village (for senior dogs), Don's Angel Fund (for injured animals), and our most successful program, Molly's Mercy Missions (saving animals facing euthanasia in shelters across the Southwest and Juarez Mexico). Since the inception of Watermelon Mountain Ranch, we have helped to save the lives of over 200,000 animals, placing them in loving homes and are New Mexico's largest no-kill animal shelter. 💚Today is National Dessert Day, and the perfect ingredient is HONEY! 🍯 The buzz on Honey is that she lives up to her name. She is one of the sweetest little girls we know! At 25lbs, Honey is little, playful and loves to cuddle! Honey is smart and learns new tricks easily (She already knows the sit command!) She gets along great with other dogs her size and level of play, so if you have another dog, we recommend bringing them along to meet! Honey is ready to fly into her forever hive, and we hope it's with you!💚

💚We got Annie! She's our 16lb little pocket pittie! She has the most beautiful brindle coat, and almond shaped eyes. Annie is super friendly to everyone, playful, and gets along great with other dogs! If you have another dog, we always recommend bringing them along to meet. It's been the Hard Knocked life for Annie in the past, but she's ready to be Together At Last with her forever person, strolling down Easy Street (and you don't have to be named Daddy Warbucks!)💚

💚HAPPY TAIL ALERT! We had some fantastic adoptions this week, and we still have some out on trial adoptions, and we really hope they make them official! 💚Look who's making her adoption debut tomorrow! Meet Chirra! Her name means "ray of light" and this lovely little 12lb poodle mix is one to us! 7 month old Chirra has a soft, curly coat that will require grooming on occasion. She's very sweet, and still a young pup, who needs her forever family to train her in all the ways it takes to be a great pup! And Chirra is a smart, tender hearted gal who will give all of the love she's got to the person who earns it! (She has a cherry eye, and a medical waiver must be signed during her adoption)💚
She will be at Petsmart/Cottonwood tomorrow 10/10/26! She will be there with 3 other wonderful, adoptable dogs from 11am-3pm, unless she's adopted before 3, so you want to be there early. We hope we see you there, finding your forever friend!

💚We're still scratching our heads wondering how Manolo still hasn't found his forever home! He is our handsome, long haired senior gentleman with a most fashionable name. And senior cats like him never go out of style! Manolo can be a little aloof during a first meeting with someone, but he quickly comes around with some good chin scritches. And once you're in, he rewards you with some beautiful purring! We also believe he needs a home where he's the only cat. Manolo is ready to start this next season, and the next chapter in his 9 lives, in a very stylish forever home!💚
