Hey Rio Nidans--it's time to clean out your closets!!

Help support our beautiful community and the Rio Nido Station by donating gently worn, used and new athletic shoes!

The funds will be used to continue to build out our new community center and to pay off the very generous anonymous loan we used to buy the Rio Nido Station!!

Partnering with Sneakers4Good, we will benefit our community and at the same time rescue sneakers from landfills. All that while helping support over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs in 24 developing countries. These micro-enterprises redesign and resell the used athletic shoes for their livelihood.

A win-win for all!!

Please, come join FRN for an open house and tour of our newly purchased Rio Nido Firehouse, followed by a fun brainstorming session on Sunday, January 12th at 11am. We’ll be looking for suggestions on what to call the new community center, what kind of events we might hold, and imagining all the possibilities.

IT’S OFFICIAL! Our offer to purchase the Rio Nido Firehouse from The Sonoma County Fire District was unanimously accepted by the Fire District Board.

Having the Firehouse restored to the hands of the community is the culmination of nearly 8 years of persistent work and dedication that began when our Rio Nido Post Office was closed in 2017. Back then, our only goal was to get free daily mail delivery restored for our residents, in whatever form possible… but never, not even during our wildest moments of optimism, did we imagine that those efforts would lead to THIS result!
We are truly humbled by the spirit of public service embodied by everyone at the SCFD, and the kindness and generosity of all the people we’ve met and had the privilege to work with along the way.

Planning ahead for the future, we have lots of ideas, big and small, about how the space can be used to benefit Rio Nidans… and we want to hear yours as well!
