🎉 We celebrate our Pastor, Bishop-Elect Willie L. Johnson, Jr. on his recent retirement after 37 years of dedicated service with South Jersey Gas Company!

Some may say he is now becoming a “full-time Pastor,” but the truth is, he has always given himself fully to ministry. Throughout his 37-year career, he served in ministry in many capacities, and for the last 19 years as our Pastor.

Through changing shifts, long days, late nights, and even the pandemic, he remained faithful, preaching, teaching, praying, visiting hospitals, comforting families, and serving God’s people, all while being a devoted husband and father of three.

Today, we celebrate 37 years of hard work, sacrifice, faithfulness, and commitment.

Congratulations, Bishop, on a well-deserved retirement and this new chapter! We honor the Pastor who never stopped pastoring.

This year, the phrase “We’ve Come This Far By Faith” resounded deeper within the rhythm of this ministry than ever before. This year marked a historic, yet bittersweet, chapter in our 119-year journey.

This year, we stepped into a season of tremendous transition. It was time for us to move from the church and property we had called home for over a century.

On Palm Sunday, we gathered for the final time in our former church home. Then, just one week later, on Resurrection Sunday, we worshipped for the first time in our new home.

A new building, in a new city, with a new neighborhood and community. So much around us may be new, but our mission remains the same: to be a place where lives are transformed from the inside out.

A short time later, the walls of our former church were demolished. Mixed emotions filled the hearts of not only our members, but also our neighbors, church friends, and family as we watched a place that had stood for over a century become a part of our history.

As we celebrate 119 years, we are reminded that the true pillars, foundation, and fabric of this ministry are not found in a physical building, but in the heartbeat of a people committed to God, His Word, and His purpose.

As we move forward, we will continue honoring our past, glorifying God in our present, and praising God into our future.
