The Youth Programs division of Jersey Cape Diagnostic, Training, and Opportunity Center, Inc. (also simply known as “Jersey Cape”) assists eligible youth ages 16 to 24 in Cape May County in preparing for and acquiring employment. We have over 25 years of experience and success in youth training as an approved New Jersey Department of Education non-public school training provider and we are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Our programs are offered to youth who face various barriers to employment, such as those who are disabled, those who have dropped out of high school, and those who are on probation. Overall, this results in a positive effect on the region's economy and workforce development in Cape May County.
PREP, which stands for Preparing to Reach Employment Potential, is an in school program that provides free, comprehensive educational and employment preparation services to income-eligible Cape May County high school seniors who face barriers to employment. The program serves students who are basic skills deficient, disabled, or are pregnant or parenting. We provide highly individualized services and support through a collaborative effort with community partners.
Pre-ETS, which stands for Pre-Employment Transition Services, is an in school program where counselors empower youth with disabilities to achieve their highest employment potential. This program is available to youth between the ages of 14 and 21 who are currently enrolled in school and are receiving services through an IEP or 504 plans.
PPAY, which stands for Probation Pathways Advocating for Youth, is an in and out of school program that provides individualized case management services to Cape May County youth aged 14 to 21 who have been disposed through the juvenile court system and are under probation supervision. Since many of these youth have experienced academic failure, disengagement from school, and/or school disciplinary problems, this program's focus is on assisting juveniles in increasing school attendance, enhancing academic achievement, and developing the skills needed to secure and retain employment.
