Ringoes Grange No. 12

Ringoes Grange No. 12 Non-Profit, Grassroots Community Organization The Grange has a rich history and is credited with several major accomplishments that forever changed America.
(1)

The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry (commonly referred to as the Grange) was founded in 1867 following the Civil War. It's purpose: To improve agricultural conditions across the country by helping poor farmers--who suffered the brunt of the war--to advance their methods of agriculture, as well as to advocate for their social and economic needs. It remains one of the oldest gra

ssroots organizations in existence. Still grounded in agriculture and a strong advocate for the farmer, the Grange is dedicated to the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

Part of the FREE, monthly lecture series that we have at the Ringoes Grange, 1101 Old York Rd, Ringoes, includes our July speaker - Dr. Gary Grover, Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Rutgers University, and our own Grange member. On Monday, July 13th at 7 pm Dr. Gary, will talk about one of the most interesting ladies in all our medical history - "Madame Curie:Her life and medical research>" She was born in Poland, in the late 1800's, and back then, Czar's wouldn't allow females to be educated, so she moved to Paris, France, where she studied Physics and Chemistry and obtained several different degrees in these fields. She then met & married her husband, Pierre Curie, and together they both worked together to discover Radioactivity and Polonium & radium elements. She was the first woman to receive he Nobel Prize.

Come enjoy this wonderful program and learn about this incredible woman. Also that night, a video of the Mudder Museum will be shown, Light refreshments will be served after the lecture and Q&A time. Donations appreciated.

Hi Folks!
Just wanted to remind you of some things that will be happening at the Ringoes Grange in the next month or so.
* Did you always wonder, how these colorful bits of color flit around, on wildflowers that are grow in our gardens or even the countryside? There is so much information that most people are not aware about them, but soon you can by attending the Ringoes Grange's June program,- Monday, June 1st, at 7 pm - Mary Anne Borge, Editor of the Butterfly Gardener magazine & instructor at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, a Rutgers Green Infrastructure Champion, and Chairperson of the Lambertville NJ Parks & Recreation Commission, She is also one of the team leaders, for, Lambertville Goes Wild, which is a volunteer organization that successfully led the City of Lambertville to certification by the National Wildlife Federation. She also writes and illustrates with her own photography, on the importance of native plants in life. Mary Anne, will be speaking to us on, "The Secrets of Butterfly Gardening." As always, all the programs at the Grange are FREE, but donations accepted. There will be light refreshments after the program, so stay, eat & chat!

* Summer is here already & it is HOT! Our flowers need to be lightly watered everyday, except when it rains(Remimber, if it rains in Stockton, generally it doesn't in Ringoes), but, we will need people to help pour plants from dying, in front of our building & in our concrete basket. There is an outside spigot and a watering pitcher for your convenience. Please coordinate a time when you are able to help us, by calling Charity at 908-72-0616. Thank You, ALL!!
