Friends of the Catoosa County Library Every Library needs a good friend! Some of the examples of items removed from general library circulation include the types listed below.

Founded in 1999, Friends of the Catoosa County Public Library is a member supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that advocates for, fundraisers and donations, and provides support for the Catoosa County Library. Library collection maintenance evaluation and weeding guidelines:
The Library staff generally do a review and remove items if older than the specified Age or if Unused for the speci

fied period of time. If in good condition they then provide these items to the Friends of the Catoosa County Public library to be used to benefit the community or sold to support programs at the library. Age = Years since copyright date
Unused = Years since last use (circulation)
M = Misleading and/or factually inaccurate
U = Ugly (badly worn, dirty)
S = Superseded (by a new edition or by a much better book on the subject)
T – Trivial (of no discernible literary or scientific merit)
Y = Your collection has no use for this item (irrelevant to patron needs and interests)
X = not applicable

Friends - we are trying to figure out a better way to corral our kids books. We are looking for some thin “book bins” or “magazine bins” to add to our shelves. We’d love it if someone from our community were able to donate some to us so that we can keep as many of our funds as possible to pay for our great community programs and events. So, does anyone have some of these bins sitting around that aren’t being used? We’d love to have them 🙂

You can choose from a large selection of audiobooks and check them out on your library card. Or, if you want to add an audiobook to your own personal collection, we have quite a few of them in the Friends Sale Section. The really good news is that all of the audiobooks in the Friends Sale Section right now are FREE!

Do you find yourself on long rides in your car and too many books you want to read? We have audiobooks on CDs just for you!
