Friends of the Catoosa County Library Every Library needs a good friend! Some of the examples of items removed from general library circulation include the types listed below.

Founded in 1999, Friends of the Catoosa County Public Library is a member supported 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that advocates for, fundraisers and donations, and provides support for the Catoosa County Library. Library collection maintenance evaluation and weeding guidelines:
The Library staff generally do a review and remove items if older than the specified Age or if Unused for the specified period of time. If in good condition they then provide these items to the Friends of the Catoosa County Public library to be used to benefit the community or sold to support programs at the library. Age = Years since copyright date
Unused = Years since last use (circulation)
M = Misleading and/or factually inaccurate
U = Ugly (badly worn, dirty)
S = Superseded (by a new edition or by a much better book on the subject)
T – Trivial (of no discernible literary or scientific merit)
Y = Your collection has no use for this item (irrelevant to patron needs and interests)
X = not applicable

Need a fun craft for a slow Saturday morning? Celebrate the autumn season with the library this month! Come to the Autumn Fest on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 AM to craft with Ms. Shannon.

Do you love bees and want to know more about these amazing animals? Join us as Cody Bowling, the ANR Agent for Catoosa County with the UGA Extension Office, and a long-time expert in beekeeping, comes to teach the basics of Beekeeping 101. He will be here on Tuesday, October 6, at 6:00 PM for this fun, educational experience.

Do you have a future engineer in your midst? This is the program for them! This month’s theme is haunted houses. We will create haunted houses using paper, popsicle sticks, and paper bags. Join Ms. Shannon for the Engineer Building Club on Thursday, October 15, at 4:00 PM.
