The Heritage High School Wrestling Team is Back to Back State Champions.
The Team was named the 2026 GHSA AAA Wrestling GWCA (Georgia Wrestling Coaches Association) Academic State Champions. This is the 2nd year in a row Heritage High School Wrestling has earned this designation. The Generals beat out wrestling powerhouse Jefferson HS who finished 2nd and Chestatee HS who finished in 3rd place by having the highest academic average in the State of Georgia in GHSA AAA Wrestling.
The 14 Heritage wrestlers that contributed to the honor are (in order of the picture L to R):
Wyatt Womack, Lane Redwine, Beau Pattison, Jacob Wolfe, Wesley McDaniel, Hunter Kennedy, Landon Wooten, Asher Kay, Mason Boyd, Cooper Stallings; (not pictured) Hunter Baker, Judah Burkhart, Landon Lewis, Keegan Tidwell
The pictured team members had a 3.7 to a 4.0 GPA and are All-State (3.7 to 3.99) and All-State with Distinction (4.0).
The Heritage HS wrestling program focuses on academic success as well as athletic success. When needed, wrestlers are allowed to work on academic assignments in the wrestling room during practice. Adison Steadman is the 130 lb GHSA Girls Wrestling State Runner-Up. (There is only one division for the Girls unlike the Boys that have 6 divisions)
Adison had a great State tournament going 3-1 with one pin.
Adison wrestled well in the Finals. At one point, Adison had her opponent going to her back and at risk of getting pinned. The match was tied 6-6 in the second period when Adison lost a throw battle and ended up getting pinned. Adison’s opponent Senior Artemis Eaton from North Forsyth HS is Georgia’s first 4X State Champion with a record this season of 45-0. After the match, Miss Eaton remarked that Adison was by far her toughest opponent this season and that Adison is super strong and has a bright future being only a sophomore.
Adison is the first Girl in Catoosa County history to wrestle in the State Finals and in the immediate local North Georgia area.
Adison was a GHSA State Sectionals Champion, 2X Area Champion, and a 2025 State Qualifier.
We are very proud of Adison’s achievements this season.

Adison Steadman won her semifinals match and is in the State Championship Finals at 3:30 PM Saturday.
Adison is the first Girl in Catoosa County history to wrestle in the State Finals!

The Heritage Wrestling Team had a great Traditional State Championship Tournament.
The Generals finished 6th out of the 47 teams that qualified for State. That is the highest finish since the Generals placed 4th in 2017. Heritage also had a State Champion and 4 more State Medalists for a total of 5 State Medalists. That is also the most State Medalists since 2017 when the Generals had 6 State Medalists. Heritage placed 4th in State Duals in 2025.

The coaches and wrestlers worked together as a team to overcome a season of adversity and end with success. This young team is primed for success over the next couple of years.

Heritage Girl wrestler and 2X Area Champion Adison Steadman is the State Sectional A Champion with 2 pins and a tech fall. Adison advances to the State Championship Tournament in Atlanta.

The Heritage HS Boys Wrestling Team traveled to Flowery Branch, GA for the AAA State Sectionals Tournament hosted by Cherokee Bluff HS. 2-7-2026.
The team finished 5th out of the 29 teams in the sectionals. 5 of the Top 10 teams were from our Region.
The Generals qualified 7 wrestlers for the State Championship Tournament in Atlanta this week.

The Heritage HS Boys Wrestling Team traveled to Lafayette for the Region 7AAA Traditional Championship. The Generals battled a very tough field of competitors and ended up Team Region Runner-Up. Heritage was only a few points behind Gilmer and 60 points ahead of the 3rd Place, Lafayette.
The Generals finished 3rd last year and 3rd during duals season. Through hard work and determination, the Generals made great strides to overcome a lot of adversity and qualified 12 of the 13 wrestlers for State Sectionals.

The Lady Generals Wrestling Team traveled to Lafayette for the Div 2 Area 7 Traditional Championship.
The ladies competed against the 44 teams in our Area with most brackets being 32 man. The young team battled and came away with one Area Champion and a 6th Place medalist. The as a whole finished 15th of 44 teams.
Adison Steadman(130 lbs) went 4-0 with 4 pins and is a 2X Area Champion.
Bella Severe(140 lbs) went 3-2 with 2 pins, Placed 6th and is a State Alternate.

The Heritage HS Wrestling Team hosted Dade Co and Dalton. 1-13-2026.
The Generals went 2-0.

The Generals beat Dade Co 76-0. Then, Heritage beat a tough Dalton team 39-34. Wyatt Womack, Asher Kay, Fisher Rhodes, Brayden Williams, Noah Slatton, Lane Redwine, Justus Wheat, and Cam Gault were all undefeated on the day.

The Generals improved their season record to 17-13.

The Heritage HS Wrestling Team hosted the Region 7AAA Duals Championship 1-10-2025.

The Generals went 3-1 and placed 3rd in the Region.

The Generals beat Adairsville 62-17 in the 1st round. Then, in the semifinals the Generals battled Calhoun but lost 31-35. In the consolation bracket, the Generals beat NW Whitfield 44-32. And in the Consolation Finals, Heritage beat Lafayette 35-33 to finish Region 3rd Place. Wyatt Womack, Asher Kay, Kegan Tidwell, and Wesley McDaniel were all undefeated on the day.

The Generals improved their season record to 15-13.

Also, The Lady Generals Wrestling Team made history by competing for the first time in the Div 2, Area 7 Duals Championship.

The Lady Generals went 1-2 and finished in 7th Place out of the 22 teams in Division 2, Area 7.

In the 1st round, the Lady Generals lost to LFO 30-46. In the consolation bracket, the Lady Generals battled and lost a close one to Sonoraville 30-35. In the Consolation Finals, the Lady Generals beat North Murray by 1 point to finish in 7th Place.

Adison Steadman and Kaydence Edge both went undefeated on the day.
