🔥 Fire Weather Watch Issued 🔥
February 23 | 1:18 PM CST – February 24 | 8:00 PM CST
Issued by the National Weather Service (Norman, OK)

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch in effect Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. Conditions may become favorable for rapid fire growth.

What to know: 🌬️ Winds: South 15–25 mph, with gusts up to 35–40 mph
💧 Relative Humidity: As low as 10%
🌡️ Temperatures: Up 83°F

A Fire Weather Watch means critical fire weather conditions are possible. Please stay alert for updated forecasts and potential Red Flag Warnings.

Target Areas Include:
Much of western, central, and southern Oklahoma, as well as parts of northern Texas (including Wichita Falls area and surrounding counties).

Please help keep our communities safe:
Avoid outdoor burning, use caution with equipment that can spark, and report any uncontrolled fires immediately.

Texas A&M Forest Service has raised the Wildland Fire Preparedness Level to Level 3 due to unseasonably warm, dry conditions and freeze‑cured grasses that are expected to increase wildfire activity beginning today.

🔥 Rapidly drying vegetation in the High Plains today through Tuesday, combined with critical to locally extreme fire weather, will elevate fire danger and may make new starts difficult to control. Conditions are expected to remain elevated into Wednesday and expand toward the I‑35 corridor by Thursday.

We continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to respond to any requests for assistance.

RVFD was on scene at a large grass fire in Clay County, providing mutual aid to Henrietta VFD, several hours this afternoon. The fire is contained and under control. Please remember we are in high fire conditions and under a fire ban.

Thanks to our volunteer firefighters who jumped in to help. We had 9 volunteers, 3 brush trucks and tender on scene. Thank you to our generous community and supporters - without your generosity we wouldn’t be able to do what we do! Neighbors helping neighbors.

Your Ringgold VFD has had a busy afternoon and evening. We joined several other departments on a grass fire in Nocona. We got home and filled the water tender in time to go on a vehicle fire at home.

Thank you to our community for your generosityand support. There are times it takes us all and we’re blessed to have some great response equipment and dedicated volunteers!

(02/05/26) 2:22pm Montague County Northside Fire Departments are working a large grass fire on Gray Rd north of nocona! Please avoid the area so crews can work.

3:07pm (updates) dozers have been requested.

3:45pm (update) fire is under control and in heavy mop up
