Location change for our coffee + games plan for this evening. We will now be meeting at the Starbucks on Battlefield at 6pm as Mean Mug doesn’t stay open in the evenings.

Free drink of choice for any teen in foster care who wants to join us as we hang out and play card games.

We are doing some fun activities with our foster youth this summer and taking a break from the monthly meetings. All of these activities are being funded by a grant from North Georgia EMC so please send them a “thank you” on their page for supporting our foster youth!

June 24 11am Bowling at Spare Time on Brainerd road. We’ll be doing pizza also.

July 7 11am River tubing with Kayak Ringgold

July 21 Lake Winnie

July 29 6-8pm Back to school night at Fort Oglethorpe pool (swimming, dinner, and back to school supplies given)

Foster The Teen meeting is tonight from 6:30-8pm

We are meeting at The Spot Creamery in Ringgold and treating everyone to ice cream. This month we will be sharing about several ILP programs available to teenagers in foster care including an amazing free summer college experience for 9-12th graders.

Took the teens out to do paintball today and they rocked it!

Thanks to donations we are able to not only hold our monthly meetings for teens in foster care but also take them on some fun activities in the community.

11 kids who attended today live at The Cottage (group home in Walker County) and I want to give a special thanks to the staff members who brought them and allow them to participate in all our events.

Foster The Teen meeting tonight!

Held at the LIFT Center 7197 Nashville Street Ringgold, GA 30736
6:30-8:00pm

Dinner will served (tonight is Spencer’s BBQ) and we will be having Leslie McClain as our speaker. Leslie is a former foster youth who aged out and has served on the state wide advocacy committee for foster youth as well as worked as a DFCS worker and now works in a community support role. She will be sharing her story and giving an inside look into aging out of the Georgia DFCS system as well as speaking about self advocating within the foster care system.

Gift cards will be given away to each youth who attends.

We started with 3 teens and now we have 11-15 join us each month which has been so exciting! I’ll show a few pictures of what we’ve been doing at our meetings.

Monday, December 12th is our next Foster The Teen meeting!

We will have pizza and a hot chocolate bar for dinner. Then we’ll be doing an art project with Alydots so let us know who is coming so we make sure we have enough door hangers.

Reminder: Foster The Teen, our meeting for teens in foster care, will be this Monday the 14th at 6:30pm. Held at the LIFT Center located at 7197 Nashville St, Ringgold 30736

We will have dinner, gift card giveaways, and our speaker will be Leslie McClain who is a former foster youth who is now working in State wide advocacy for kids in foster care.

If you are a foster parent and your teen is attending then please comment so we have the right number of food and gift cards.

Tonight we had our first reunification shower!! It went so well! Huge thanks to everyone who came, supported, sent a gift and loved on this family!! We hope to have many more of these to come!! 🙂

Tomorrow is the reunification shower at Brainerd North Georgia at 6:00! If anyone would like to show up and help encourage this family we would love to see you there!! 💜💜

Today we were able to provide lunch to 20 DFCS staff in Catoosa.

Our local staff are incredible people who work so hard for families and children in our community and their dedication is incredible.

We also saw the Amazon list for Emma’s reunification shower be completely fullfilled and we can’t thank you enough for supporting this mom and her 5 children in such a real, tangible way.

Everything we do at Foster Northwest Georgia is based in the concept of connection and community. Your support makes this happen and we are so grateful to you!

Only a few things left on the wish list! This is amazing! If you would like to help with a Walmart gift card instead, I know she said she could use that for groceries as well as clothes! Hey everyone! We have our very first reunification shower to throw and we are soooo excited to be able to support Emma in this way!!

Emma has 5 kids ages 12-18 and she has worked incredibly hard to get her kids back home! You will see some household items, as well as some gift cards to restaurants to allow them to go to eat as a family. She also mentioned she does grocery shopping at Walmart and that would be a big blessing as you can imagine, adding five kids to your house, definitely makes your grocery bill go up!

Anything you can do to help make this an amazing day for Emma would be so appreciated! The shower is going to be Saturday, November 5th at 6pm and ALL are invited!!

If you can’t make it in person, you can buy something off this list and it will go directly to me and then if you have a gift card or something that you want to buy, let me know and I will pick it up and if you are not local, message me and I will give you my address! Thank you guys so much!
