This past Tuesday, Hardin County Search and Rescue conducted our September monthly meeting and training. We had a great class over risk assessment and safety for SAR.

We asked ourselves the following question. If a search occurred today, what would you provide in a safety briefing and how would you conduct the risk assessment?

Our next meeting will be October 13th, 2026, at College Heights Church in Elizabethtown, KY. As always, anyone in our community is able to participate and attend. No experience is required!

We would also like to welcome our newest member that attended this week’s training!

Thank you for your continued support of our unit. 🗺️🥾

Our training this month consisted of teaching new members and refreshing current members on filing out the necessary forms when conducting a search. We touched base on After Action Reports, Search Urgency Forms, and Lost Person Questionnaires. Chief Marvin led last night’s forms training. 📑

Training Officers Laura and Morgan spent a few minutes refreshing members on utilizing CalTopo in preparation for our August training. Next month we will continue our Land Navigation coursework! 🥾🗺️
